TripleM Thanks.

Btw, do you know how to go about changing the air-con micronfilter and where to get them. Mine was changed at Juzz for cars recently. When I went back to check the bill, they actually cost more than PML. Heard it's rather easy to do. So am thinking of buying for shop and changing it on my own. I also heard that it has to be replaced say every 25,000km.

Thanks again for your help.

Hi,

Just checking if the price at PML is apple to apple when compared to Juzz? So as to say that parts + labour at PML vs part + labour at Juzz? Wat is the price diff?

:)

Micro-air filter/M5 rims

Hi Snowdog,

Just checked my old bill. Can only share on the cost.Labour part was't that clear as I have other things done at the same time. Juzz charges S$48 per piece. My E39 requires 02. Total cost $96. BMW charges $63.70 for 02(a/f 10 discount). It was after this discrepancy that I started looking through rest of bill.

I did call Eng Soon and they quoted me a piece at about $45-47.Maybe performance gets bulk discount

Cheers.

Dear all,

Just want to check what should be the colour of the original M5 rims? Silver or gunmetal finish. Don't know how to paste pic here but the rims (I think)are Voxx-M5 and can be seen from the web. Details from web seems to point towards silver. The chap that sold me the old set (in gunmetal finish)say original should be gunmetal finish. Somehow think it's a "fake" cause I understand from some articles in this forum that original should be on staggered set up. The set that I have is 18' all round.

Thanks

Bro,

I think original colour shd be gunmetal colour but when refurbished, can be to any colour lah. Having non-staggered does not mean fake as the previous owner may have indented 2 sets of front rims coz he did not want staggered.

From the little I know, having a M sticker embedded into the rim is not a guarantee that it is original. The only way is to take out the rim and see the reverse. If there are the words BMW, some serial number and indication of the size of the rim, then it is probably original.

I am on staggered "M5" rims and still not sure if they are original though the tyre shop assured me a 100 times and indicated so in the invoice. Will check on the reverse of the rim when I next go for servicing. Still, I love the rims to death.

M5 Rims

T6,

Thanks. I guess not staggered also has it's advantage. At least I can save some $ since I will be able to rotate the tyres. Tink am going to get the rims refurbished and maybe respray to silver.Agree with you. Bottom line is we must love the looks of our rims. Thanks again Bro. Cheers

Snowdog,

Not to sure whether carbonor non-carbon.Frankly, me not too good in the technical department. Still trying to learn and pick up some from this forum.

Okie... I have checked it out for everybody to understand what happened. :)

PML charges :
- Carbon = S$118.80 for 2 pcs* (after 10% Disc)
- Non Carbon = S$68.40 for 2 pcs* (after 10% Disc)

Not too sure if PML charges extra if get them to install and if there is any GST on top of that.

Juzz charges :
- Carbon = S$96.00 for 2 pcs (including installation & GST)

And we juzz have the Carbon Type. We never use the Non-carbon.

;)

Bro, u no like gun-metal? :verysad:

T6,

thot of changing to a slighly lighter colour. gunmetal doesn't stands out.

btw, saw an advert on Saturday. LifeMotoring Page 6. The company is offering a promotional S$15 off K&N filter to commemorates their appointment as K&N distributor. I called to ask whether they have the "drop in" K&N filter for E39 Year 2001 model. Guess what. they are also note sure which K&N model will fit my car. Do you have any idea the model number for th eK&N filter and how much I should roughly be paying. THANKS

Snowdog - Thanks for the clarification on the costs.
