Hi,

My current E60 tyre size is 245/40R18. Can I change to CSC5 235/40/R18 ? They only hv this size. Will there be problem if this is under size ?

Pls kindly advise as I thought of changing today.

Re: Tyre under size , ok ?

SInce you are used to 245 why not look for a tyre shop that has 245? Once you force yourself to act out of the normal, 90% you will regret.

Btw, down-sizing is perfectly fine.

Re: Tyre under size , ok ?

Day to day, poorer traction and grip in times when you need that. Load index changes, so a bit more pressure required. Your speedo/odo reading might be off too...

Re: Tyre under size , ok ?

Ur speedo will be sibei off (+5%).

Re: Tyre under size , ok ?

IF THE 245 is available dont see the reason why you want to down size:thinking:
it wont have any serious problems. but i wont recommend you to do so.

Re: Tyre under size , ok ?

OT abit,

this is almost the same situation with similar "cause and effect" where ppl like to deviate from factory setting of 225/40/18 for E90 to 235/40/18 and likewise for rear. I can't really understand why.. Any1 like to share?

As for 19" I can understand why ppl like to deviate becos of the market availability. You will have more choices of 235/35/19 than factory setting of 225/35/19 and similarly for staggered rear 265/30/19 than 255/30/19.. :whythis:

Oversizing is the way to go for 3 series?:laughlik:

Mr bernie you are 101 % right for 3 series case many are running on oversize tyre so making the factory spec 225 F 255 R becoming wrong size:oooops:
affecting speedo meter reading i do not think is a very important issue.
NO one can guarantee his car speedo is 100% accurate and usualy factory setting is a little over reading.
1 think for sure is over size is better than under size.
