Hope this thread does not sound too repetitive but I've grouped the most commonly used and talked about tyres in a poll for Singapore context.

Would like to hear honest opinions on those who are already using any of the above and how they feel it has performed for their rides and how they value them against the amount paid. Durability would be subjective because it depends on the driving habits of every individual but it would be great to have feedback on that area as well(please let us know if you drive hard or not or do last minute cornering or not when you talk about durability).

Please also vote for the next set of tyres which you would be changing to.

p/s: This thread is not about finding out which is the best tyre because i believe there is no such thing as the best tyre. It's meant more for information and honest feeback from users so that future discerning buyers will be able to have a glimpse or idea of the tyres they'll be buying.

Re: Tyre Comparison And Feedback

I hv used PS2, CSC2 and SO-3.
PS2 is on Z4, SO-3 is on M3 and CSC-2 was on E46PFL 318

Here is my honest review. I do spirited to hard driving. Only ku-niang in my Tucson

CSC-2:
I like the tires for 3 things:
1. Very light weight
2. Very good compound, awesome braking.
3. Decent comfort level

I dont like the tires for 2 things:
1. Bad in wet
2. It's priced not v far from its main rival , namely PS2 which is superior. Will come to that stage shortly

SO-3:
I like SO-3 for the following reasons:
1. It has stiff sidewall, v nice steering input during cornering
2. V good high speed stability
3. Fantastic in wet weather
4. Good dry traction

I don't like SO-3 for the following reasons:
1. Weight n weight....very heavy. Hence, ensure get a set of lighter rims
2. It tramlines, largely due to the thread design I suppose
3. Could hv been priced alot more competitive
4. Harsher ride due to the sidewall stiffness but it's not always bad IMO.

PS2..
I like PS2 for the following reasons:
1. Very light
2. Superb compound, awesome dry traction and braking
3. Incredibly comfortable even on low profile....Amazing!
4. Good wet traction but not as good as SO-3
5. Very predictable handling and smooth driving.

I dont like PS2 for the following reasons:
1. Price
2. Price
3. Price...Should hv been priced more competitively vs CSC2 ( being continental tires...esp when Euro matters which is now not really....)

More likely than not, we always weight costs vs benefits. We are price sensitive consumers. I m a inclined to be one of them too but here is my take....

If you are driving like miss-daisy/non-aggressive to light spirited driving..Then it's not necessary to spend so much money to buy the most expensive tires such as PS2.
Reason being, u can't even push more than 50 pct of what this tire is capable of offering.
So save the money and buy your loved ones a nice dinner.

But if you are into spirited to hard/aggressive driving....I swear by PS2. It's the best out there. I am yet to try these tires on the track but I hv already got a feeling that it's gonna be superb.

Steven, you made me do this so one Gelare waffle on you.

Overall : 7.5/10.

Re: Tyre Comparison And Feedback

I choose Michelin PS2 cos I like Bigbendum. They last forever but pricy.

Second choice is GSD3 cos it has good reviews and comparatively cheaper than PS2. A definite choice if you buy the new range of Adidas shoes with the Goodyear logo....

Re: Tyre Comparison And Feedback

tried the ps2 on track....in a thunderstorm where visibility was 10m...ask eggz. the tyre gave us the confidence to go all out..we were so relaxed driving it even in those conditions....n we were not holding back...it was maxed out. thats just how good those things were. i have never felt so secure wif any other tyres...in the DRY.

they just grip n grip...the lateral grip is phenomenal....the steering feel is fantastic too...easy to correct understeers or to modulate ur throttle shud u feel the rear swinging out....they give u the feedback to control ur car on another level...

shud put them in every car...

Re: Tyre Comparison And Feedback

Wow seems like PS2 is the clear winner at the moment. So where is the cheapest lobang for PS2 in Singapore?

Re: Tyre Comparison And Feedback

for me I am on my 2nd set of PS2, IMHO it's the best tire $$$ can buy for now.

Pro
1. It grips & grips
2. Fantastic road feel & feedback
3. Very lasting
4. Very comfortable for a high performance tire
5. Very good on the wet
6. Very easy to balance (some tires are really bad to balance)

Cons
1. Price
2. Rather plain looking
