Tyre Choice

Hope all the bros here can help me out. I am collecting my new e60 soon and am considering replacing the stock runflats and rims. I would like to upsize to 245/40/18 but am a bit concerned about the penalty in comfort that will bring (the car is more a family taxi than something I can "chiong" in).

My priorities in the choice of tyres are - 1. comfort, 2. grip and 3. tread life

Please share your experience with the following tyres:

ContiSportContact2
Dunlop SP Sport Maxx
Bridgestone RE050
Michelin PS2

Thanks in advance!

Re: Tyre Choice

hi
i am on 18 ps2 .comfort remains the same.noise was slight higher when ps2 was brand new but seems ok now.runflats gets worst over time.

grip and and tread i say easily ps2.

but i feel 18 looks small on the e60.can try 19.

trade in your runflats and
rims when it brand new to get good price but not to pml.

Re: Tyre Choice

If budget isnt an issue then look no further to PS2.
It's probably the most comfortable ultra high performance tires in the mkt today.
The grip is awesome and the tread life is good too.

Else, try the RE050...should fulfill your 1 n 2 priorities quite well.

Cheers n gd luck

If comfort is your priority, stick to the stock rim and tyre size. I'd say they are the best compromise.

I'd recommend PS2 but it comes at a price. I'd stay away from continental.

Re: Tyre Choice

Thanks for the replies guys! I am leaning towards the PS2 if I can get a good price on the whole package as well as a good trade-in price for the runflats. If not, as NTY suggests, I may just stick with stock, only problem for me is that with so many e60s on the roads now, I just want my ride to look a little different.

For those of you who upsized your rims, can you share your experience with regards to the penalty in performance this brings?

What is the market price of PS2 18/235/40?

Anyone can help?

Re: Tyre Choice

Peterpan, not sure about 235/40/18 but I was quoted $500 per piece for 245/40/18 so I think should be in that region.

Should be $400plus. Do a search of the forum. There was some discussion in the past abt pricing for these tyres and where to get them cheap.

Dun worry bro, the ride weren't be that hard. PS2s have pretty soft sidewalls. The ride will only possibly turn harder if you change to firmer suspension set up which is not the case here.
