Turbo engine for other models?

Hi,

Does anyone know if BMW will introduce the 3 litre turbo engine used in the 335 in any of the other series soon, especially the 6 series?

Re: Turbo engine for other models?

with that weight and the current 630,635,645,650 and M6 already in the market, don't think that engine with do any justification for production. For the 6er that is.

Re: Turbo engine for other models?

Well, the 645 is replaced by the 650.
Was there a 635?

Re: Turbo engine for other models?

Kinda doubt it
The logic is this...

M3 is the BMW M-division bread and butter ( not the M5 nor M6 which are at much price brackets )

So, to main exclusivity of the M5 n M6, people are "forced" to dig into a deeper pocket to afford the cars as opposed to the M3 which is much more affordable at mass market level. A similar argument can be said about the Z4M tho I'd like to see the same engine in one of the variants too but again, I think it's very unlikely.

And given the 3 series are BMW's best selling models,...it makes more sense to close the gap amongst the variants ranging from 320 323 330 335 to M3 in order to penetrate a much wider market segments.

I could be wrong but I am just speaking from a more feasible marketing point of view.

Cheers

535 ... they got some plans for it. Not sure if it'll be produced though.

Re: Turbo engine for other models?

There will be a 535 I read somewhere n I am sure this is not the end

Re: Turbo engine for other models?

ah....a bit of research brought me to the BMW USA website....under Future Vehicles (droool....what a nice section to have on a car website!)..

So, looks like a 535 twin-turbo is a reality...whether it makes it here is another question...

The New 5 Series - Overview - BMW North America

here's a pic from the site.....

Re: Turbo engine for other models?

My gut feeling tells me PML is really gonna screw up on the pricing as they will find it very hard to price the 535 against the 335i and alike. As a result, i believe lower models, the prices will be forced to be reduced to enable a wider gap inbtw the model on the pretext the the 3.0litre NA version is not gonna be brought in anymore.
