Anyone knows if it is happening?

Heard that there will be an opening ceremony in January before construction starts.

Re: TUAS Race Track

i'll belive it only when i see it... think some local magazine was sayin it has "insider" info that the race track is confirmed... but then again... been hearing stuff like that for so long now

Re: TUAS Race Track

We can only hope it's true. Hope the race track will be a quality one too...

Re: TUAS Race Track

Well, according to HOT Stuff Assistant Editor, he said from a very "reliable source" that a world class track will be built at TUAS. Construction will begin late next year. He also state that next year would also spell the start of Singapore's very own drifting circuit in Sentosa. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cool....

Also, I am very curious, someone enlighten me please....people are advertising their turbocharged rides (e.g Toyota Harrier) on this month's HOT stuff issue. I am scratching my head..... are they trying to tell LTA ,"catch me catch me!!!"?

from what i understand, if the kit is manufactured for your car and the supplier has got LTA approval, then it can be retrofitted..

re the hotstuff features i think those that are not legal - you cannot see license plate of the car...

i thought long long time ago, when some ASA engineer was in town, there was talk that BVO was going to get approval for the superchargers? clutch in but never clutch out...

Re: TUAS Race Track

Well..guys..regarding the track..its confirm in TUAS..by a private owner not like SEpang which was invested by the government. Nway...there has not been any approval yet. Only approval for the site in Tuas to be constructed n layout. Coz the government wants to settle the CASINO thing before the track issues....

Dont ask me from where i had these info..but it is confirmed reliable...its up to u all to believe.

Re: TUAS Race Track

Must see the quality of the track too..
At the same time, the owner has to realize that he also faces competition, ie Sepang and PG.

Re: TUAS Race Track

length of track will be between pg and sepang. it will not just be track. there is an entire motoring village planned there, with garages, 1/4 mile, skid pan, maybe karting, and some lifestyle activities.

Re: TUAS Race Track

Hmm... sounds very promising. How much would we be willing to pay for half a track day? Personally I would mind paying about $300 per car for a Sepang quality track in Singapore. Can conserve my energy and time.

Re: TUAS Race Track

Knowing the direction the Govt is taking... all these "villages"... now the new national stadium will be an entire sports village.. iam sure if they build a track it will be a "motorsports" village too...

Heard awhile back that OBS wanted to build a track but got turned down... so iam not sure..

In any case not that iam not for arts and culture.. but surely that 400m and 10m deficit every year tat we spent on esplanade would have been better spent on a a track rivalling sepang or shanghai....just my 2 cents... In fact i wrote in to forum during this whole casino debate to suggest having a monaco... street F1 track around the casino at marina bay... figures my letter never got published... sigh...How awesome would tat be?

Re: TUAS Race Track

$300 would be just about reasonable, factoring in our sepang track fee + petrol bills + tolls + unofficial toll + risk driving up NSH.

It wouldnt be a replacement for sepang. It'll just be an additional choice for us in addition to PG and sepang. speed junkies hoping to reach 300kmh one more time will still make the occassional trip up to sepang. What's more promising is that we'll have a proper drag strip (means no need to silently go to tuas or marina south or msia for our unofficial drag races) and hopefully a skid pan to organise autocrosses and drift clinics.

but i think it'll be very very difficult for our investors to earn back money due to the cost involved in building it. I reckon this will eventually turn out to be a loss-making venture for them. Hence the delay till now to build one.
