Hi Bimmerans,

I am driving a corolla now and is thinking of switching to E90..
just a few questions...

Pardon me for my ignorance!!! :ehhh:

1) Can the new 320 E90 take Shell 95? or have to be 98?
2) I spend considerable amount of money in my car stereo..
I have.. Infinity subwoofer.. rainbow speakers.. ALPINE amplifier,,..and one JBL amplifer.. can these be transfered??

3) Is there a tax revision of the OMV soon?
4) Make a search but couldnt find the threads.. whats the major problem of E90?
5) Test driven it.. the engine quite loud.. is it bearable?
6) I am thinking of waiting for the new COE to come out.. but yet scared I may miss the Expo version,, whats the best advice?

Hope I can be enlightened!!

Thanks Bro! I hope to see u guys in the meetup with my new car soon!

Then we can go cheong! Convoy!.. got walkie talkies already..

Re: Transferable?

Hi, if you really want to get one, the expo is of lower specs, so its not actually a bargain. Many standard items is not in there so if you need to install yourselves, the cost would be the same too....:stop!:

Re: Transferable?

Can help in some question only..

1) Can the new 320 E90 take Shell 95? or have to be 98?
95 no problem

2) I spend considerable amount of money in my car stereo..
I have.. Infinity subwoofer.. rainbow speakers.. ALPINE amplifier,,..and one JBL amplifer.. can these be transfered??

Yes, provided that they fit

4) Make a search but couldnt find the threads.. whats the major problem of E90?

I think those with major problems are the lemons, i think most of the problem are minor glitches that maybe experience in some other brands too.

5) Test driven it.. the engine quite loud.. is it bearable?

E90 320 not really that loud what...

6) I am thinking of waiting for the new COE to come out.. but yet scared I may miss the Expo version,, whats the best advice?

Expo may be low on pricing, but as said, it is not full spec-ed... So forking our a little more might get u a better deal.

Re: Transferable?

Thanks Pruxli and Xuexun!

Everybody seems to be saying that the Expo is not a good buy.. okie.. I wait for the next few COEs to see how the COE reacts and then buy the standard ones.. :) Thanks for ur advice!

You Guys normally pump 95 or 98 ? I dun know.. I pumped from V -power, to 98 now 95 for my corrolla.. cos it dun seems to have impact in performance.. What does the BMW manual says?

Re: Transferable?

If u buy a good car, why save on premium petrol? But with a budget of $123k or thereabts, u have alot of other choices such as Golf GTI, Legacy GT, and tonnes of others. Whether your ICE can be transferred depends mainly on the size of your speakers. Will let the forum ICE experts advise u on that.

Re: Transferable?

It really depend on what you want to get from your ride......comfy, power, handling....what i feel is every car will give you diff satisfaction so there's no right or wrong to buy which type of car, most imp is the driver, you be happy everytime you see your car.....

I think what you say is really correct..

HI T6...

About the petrol thingy.. just wanna know if BMW are fussy cars.. heehee. just in case,.. if there is a need.. i may need to pump 95!!!

Think I love Bmw... so wun be looking at others.. for my ICE.. i am hopeful i can recyle my amplifiers and subwoofer.. dun wan to lose them.. cos enjoy my system.. :)

I have also heard that servicing for BMw can sometimes be 1 to 2k. Is it really so expensive!
2k can buy one laptop leh~~~!!!

Stan!

Re: Transferable?

Petrol? I would pump 98 as BM engines tends to detune slightly when octane lowers.
The test goes like this: pump one tankful 98, next tankful 95. If the route remains the same (thereabouts) throughout the two tankfuls, 95 octane will give you about 5% less mileage

Problems with E90. Power! When you drive the 320 you wish it were a 325 and when you drive the 325 you wish it were the 330 and when you drive the 330 you'd wish it were a ..............fill in the blanks. But generally in city driving, you're smiling in the 320 because of lower fuel consumption, road tax, insurance etc. But the moment you hit the NS highways, lesser machines can zip you by.

Next issue is the run flat tires, I'm not sure how many tire shops are capable of fixing a puncture. Perhaps our bro's can share their experiences.

Re: Transferable?

Shell 98... as recommended by BM
As for power, nonthing to shout for a 320, but with Spore traffic you don't really need the power with the Jams

U shd be able to transfer amps and subwoofer as it is just a question of where to place them. It is the speakers that u gotto check on coz different rides have different factory-prepared dimensions for u to house your speakers (unless you prepared to modify the housing then different story).

A routine servicing shouldn't cost u more than a couple of hundred bucks at an external workshop. It is possibly $1k to $2k if u do it at PML because they have different standard inspection process (Inspection I, II blah blah) for different mileage whereby they will change certain parts regardless whether the parts are spoilt or not.

I got my Bimmer secondhand and as it does not have warranty, I chose to go to a reliable external workshop. The only time I have to pay extra is for wear and tear parts that are really worn out. If it ain't broken, I won't fix it. A reliable mechanic will also not advice u to change parts for the sake of making money from u.

Re: Transferable?

Thanks for your input brudders..

I would say that 1k to 2k servicing is too expensive. Will heed u guys advice!!

cheers!
