Trade in Price

There are some good deals on used Audi Q7's at present and the prices are dropping dramatically ($10k in the past week and $20k in one case) but the dealers selling the Audi's have valued my car at way below what I would expect.

My Dec 05 525i was $178k used (4 months) from PMLS and they are selling the same month year for $151k now. Obviously that will be discounted - say $145k and mine has 53k kms on the clock and theirs is just 23k kms.

One dealer offered me $105k, the other $115k. I was expecting at least $125k to $130k? Am I way off? I mean you can get a similar aged 523i without GPS or push button or zenons for around $115k?

Do you think I am nuts thinking of choosing a Q7 over a 525?

Re: Trade in Price

Well, the whole thing is rather subjective on the values but you can get a good idea from Singapore's Largest Online Car Mart - sgCarMart to see what kind of values the 525 has in the open market. Maybe you can even put yr car on the website.

Dealers are dealers, and like us, need to make something in between. Question is, how much is too much. So doing a little homework might get you a few thousand more.

As for the comparison, its not a fair one. Whilst the 525 is a nice drive, the Q7 seats 7, has a bigger engine, is a bigger car and generally, its main purpose is to scare away little children.

Good luck in your hunt...

Re: Trade in Price

.... and I believe the Q7 drinks much more than the 525... and of course the road tax... hey but it seats 7 comfortably...

good luck.

Re: Trade in Price

There are 4 525's for sale on sgcarmart, all more than 1 year older than my Dec 05 model, none with GPS nor push start button. All going around $110k before negotiation.

Well, it also boils down to financial sense. If I am going to lose so much on the Beemer in just 2 years, then I may as well average my loss down over another 2 years.

If I buy a 1 year old Q7, with oil prices high, I suspect there will be a few more heavy guzzlers for sale in the market soon making it nigh on impossible to sell later.
