Track day Prep: A Pictorial Chronicle...

Hi folks. There was a SGTrackies track day/time attack competition on the 19th Sept and here's my personal pictorial journey on the preparation of my car for the event. It was all good fun, albeit expensive.

2 days before track day:

1st thing I saw when I reached BVO at 9.30am, Mr 55 chilling out at his breakfast table

My old ATF cooler seemed a bit on the small side, so I asked Ah Wee to put in a big ass one for better cooling and protection.

Time for lunch. Guess who I see sitting at the coffeeshop at 1.30pm?

After lunch, it's time to head up north to do some higher speed tuning with Bernard of B (Bernard) V (Vehicle) O (Operations).

AFR nicely tuned, we headed back to Singapore and sat down to have coffee. Bernard, a passionate man about goat's testicles, was telling us about the subtle differences between goat's testicles from Japan and goat's testicles from Germany.

"I tell you, although the goat's testicles from Japan are small, they are extremely flavourful. The ammonia smell is pungent and after eating, you can really last!"
Coffee1.jpg

"The goat's testicles from Germany are sibay dua liap, but no ammonia smell. Must eat 6 balls to have the same effect as 2 Japanese balls"
Coffee4.jpg

"You hold the testicle like this and dip it in salsa sauce, it's fantastic..."
Coffee5.jpg

"You must keep it in your mouth like that and suck out all the juices first, then you can chew and swallow. Otherwise damn wasted..."
Coffee2.jpg

"Bah! You dunno how to appreciate the finer points of testicle cuisine..."
Coffee3.jpg

Undisputed KING of goat testicle connoisseurs
Coffee6.jpg

Feeling a bit bored at 1.30am, so just headed down to BVO to see if anyone is around. There usually is and guess what I saw?

Mr 55 still sitting there.

Guess what 55, Shaaz and Alan were looking at at 1.30 in the morning at the BVO coffeeshop?

1 day before track day

I noticed during the tuning session up North that my steering was shaking a bit at higher speeds. So I decided to do a high speed balancing on my 19"s before I do anything else.

I bought a set of 18" Privats from Ray S and a set of Federal 595RS semi slicks. After getting the rims, I drove them straight to Federal Tyres to have the semi slicks mounted.

After the wheels were on, it's time to to a wheel alignment. Drove back to Sin Ming and straight into the shop 2 doors down from BVO for the alignment.

After an oil change (with some fancy OWS turbo oil or something, I'm all set for the track! Yay!

It was a great 1st experience driving at the Sepang track. I was overtaken by many cars including Toyota Vios, Suzuki Ignis... especially during the corners. It was a humbling experience. It has also made me have a lot LESS desire to speed on the streets. A car can be fast on a public road, but that doesn't mean a thing on a race track. Driver skill is the most important commodity.

I can't wait for the next track day to thrash my Barney-mobile again!

Why don't you ask him? He likes 'em chewy...

I look psycho cos I probably am psycho... Who in their right minds would drive around like a mad man in 33 degree weather in a full face helmet with the aircon OFF and windows all up?

Re: Track day Prep: A Pictorial Chronicle...

CBS,

Thanks for the write-up. 2 observations.

(1) Ah Wee really love modding your ride, judging from his big smile

(2) The 18" Privat rims go really well with your ride, the bonnet etc with the shades of CF etc.
