Top Gear - Audi R8 vs 911 C2S

As ever, Jeremy Clarkson's witty writing and excellent camera angles make this review of the R8 and the subsequent shootout with the 911 C2S all the more tantalizing and entertaining to watch.

Too bad BBC has just forced youtube to take down all those videos so you gotta find yr bittorrent versions. Well worth it, IMHO!

R8 still looks ungainly but it definitely looks a lot more poised and a lot more controlled through the corners!

read this month's top gear, calling the R8 boring, possibly because of all that poise.

Getting an R8 may be like getting Miss Librarian, when what we actually want is Miss Stripper.

I saw it yesterday on TV ( in London at moment )
They did a qtr mile drag and C2S won by half a car length
But on the track timing, R8 is slightly faster

From the launch, it does appear that the R8 bogged. I am not sure how Jeremy Clarkson launched the car, but an AWD can possibly launch with a much higher rpm where the peak torque is optimized. Just a slight chirp of the wheels and the tyres grab traction and then run like a bat out of hell in an instant.

it was a great episode overall as well... the amphibious car part was damn funny

Yeah, despite the inane subject matter that doesn't have anything to do with burning rubber or looking at sexy exotic beasts, I was still pretty glued to the screen.

Unlike FG, where I have to keep fast forwarding through so many uninteresting bits
