hello,

was offered a good price for a set of Falken RT215 "semi slicks". they are sized 235/45/17 and was wondering if they can fit on my 17x8 rims which come with 225/45/17 stock?

will there be a significant change in my rolling diameter? any possible drawbacks?

cheers

Jack will be the man to answer this question for you.

Re: tire fitment and falken RT215

Since you are on 8J then 235 is fine tho 225 is more optimal.
FYI, RT215 is now replaced by RT615....Still a decent track tires tho.
Ensure you check out the production year.

Grab it and try em out next time...swee2x

From my observation..for the same tire sizes, track tires shoulder blocks don't seem to "protrude" as much as regular tires.

Wouldn't the 235 should go with 235/40/R17 instead of 235/45/R17, rolling diameter would differ quite a bit.

Re: tire fitment and falken RT215

jack, as always, thanks for your input!

jawzsg,

yeah, i'm worried about rolling diameter too.

would 235/45/17 be a better fit for:

1)Z4 with OEM 225/45/17

or

2)350Z with OEM 225/50/17 front and 235/50/17 rear?

also, no one has used this set on track before? what about wet performance and threadwear rating? tried to search tirerack but they don't carry falkens.....

justin,

i know they come in 225/45/17.

these are used tires that were offered to me though so can't choose size.

thanks for input

Any change in tires specs will result in various changes in many things incl turning radius, rolling circumference, speedo reading etc..

U can use this a guide:

I'd think more suitable for your Z4.

RB used RT215 before. I sat in his car with these tires, pretty grippy:)

Now that you say this.. I also remember him swearing off these tyres after 1 of them burst quite badly on him on NS highway.. and it was a new tyre if I remember correctly.

Re: tire fitment and falken RT215

ok,

i have made my decision liao. am on goodyear f1 gsd3 now from hurry tyres.

service was great and although mr tan wasn't around, his son tristan was really friendly and helpful... even helped me measure my rims to see if my BBKs can clear.(btw, answer is no... i'll need 15mm spacers!!)

BUT..... one of my rims got scratched. sigh. couldn't be polished out..... very deep. gonna drive back again tmr to let them attempt a touch up, if cannot, i also dunno how......

oh yeah, if any of you are keen on the falkens, let me know and i'll put you in touch.
