Thoughts about 420..

Hi,
I used to drive a 325 and is considering to get a 420i coupe.
Like to check with current owners here if you find this car underpower?
Ideally my choice is 428i but pockets not deep enough

If the car is under PML warranty, we cant tune up right?

power is a subjective feeling, i personally dont find the 420i underpowered.

my car is tuned with JB4, but i have not tried claiming warranty yet so i wouldnt know.

My advice is to buy 428i instead of tuning up 420i. Stock is always optimised. There are a number of younger used 428i, if you don't mind not being the first owner. There are also some nicer options in 428i, such as Hi Fi sound system for example.

I assume you are not looking at new or used 435i or M4 due to cost.

Thanks all for your suggestions.

However i have decided on the 420 due to several reasons ie. Budget and current availability of 428 in the market that fits the right color combo that i like.

Hope to learn from you guys here on the various mod enhancements we can do to our car

Congrats to you for your new ride! Your 420i will be faster than 80%-90% of all cars on the road, it is fast enough..

Hi I’m just about to pull the trigger on a 420i myself did you find yours sufficiently powerful enough? Hearing mixed reviews some say it’s slow and sluggish some say it’s great! Would love you hear your thoughts after buying yours, cheers!!

the ZF gearbox is great.......this car is not under-powered ...( also depends what you driving now ) unless you are power hungry
