Recently, my air conditioning unit has not been effective in cooling the cabin. Went for gas top up but that did not work.
In the end, I decided to do 2 things - check my microfilter and wash my compressor.
Took the microfilter out. Part of it was quite black but being that its after hours, I could not buy a new one. But after spending 15 minutes dismantling the thing, I did not want my effort to go to waste. Saw that the area of the filter is huge relative to the blower (almost twice the size and its only blowing on the bottom half of the filter - where its black). Thought about it for a while and decided to turn it upside down and have the blower face the clean half of the filter and save myself some money. Anyway, what the heck .......
Then I recalled that the air conditioner at home was chemically washed during one of its servicing. That process involved cleaning the condensers. Since I do not have chemicals (and I am not incline to use chemicals near the body of the car anyway), I decided water would be cool. Took my garden hose, adjusted for maximum pressure and sprayed the heck out of the condenser right through the kidney grills. All kinds of stuff came out. Not surprising since its facing the wind on road most of the time. I had R2D air scoops installed so I tried to avoid sending the water right into it with some precision spraying ........Left it at that for the night.
This late morning at about 11am when I left home, weather was hot. But to my pleasant surprise, the air conditioning was actually quite cold. Big contrast from yesterday.
Happy for now ......
