It's not quite "all-new", but the new engines sound tantalising.
Some news on when they are due in Singapore can be found here:

Thanks Ju Len for the article! Was searching around for some info on the engines for the local market.
"The entry-level 523i now has 190bhp on tap (up from 177bhp) and, more impressively, fuel consumption has been reduced by 24%.
Power output for the 525i remains at 218bhp although the engine has been upsized to 3.0 litres, but there’s an extra 20Nm of torque and fuel consumption is 25% better. The 530i now has 14bhp more and uses 24% less fuel."
Quite perplexed on the choice of engines?

523i with 190hp on tap is still far from current 2.5L's 218hp. Ok, have to give it to 'em that fuel consumption is reduced substantially.
But the use of a 3.0L engine for the 525i is ??!! :furious: IMHO, same power, 20Nm more torque does not justify the extra engine cc.
Ok, at least the full 3.0L now has 272hp AND better fuel consumption

But not 14hp more since Z4 and X3 with the current engine already producing 265hp.
So S'pore buyers will get a detuned 2.5L AND a detuned 3.0L?
If that's the case then only the 3.0L is worth getting.
Where's the improvement from the current 218hp 2.5L set-up?
Sigh, anyone has any other insights? Will these new engines be used on the E90/91/92/93 in this same perplexing format? How about Z4, considering that the Z4 is nearing end of lifespan soon. Can feel IRAS laughing already 'cos road tax revenue will increase...
