Taxi fares to go up from next week

ComfortDelGro, Singapore's biggest taxi operator will be restructuring its taxi fares come Monday, Dec 12.

The peak hour surcharge will extended by an hour in the mornings from 6am to 9.30am, compared to the current time of 7am to 9.30am.

The evening surcharge will now start from 6pm until midnight throughout the week and on public holidays.


In comparison the current scheme for evening surcharges starts at 5pm and ends at 8pm from Mondays to Saturdays only.

City surcharges will now apply on Sundays and public holidays as well.

Flagdown fares for all taxis will also be increased by 20 cents.

there are over supply of taxis....alot lying around cos nobody wants to rent anymore. (can try checking out their depots)
taxi uncles always tell me "daily rental $90/day, i drive whole day, add diesel money, end up earn nothing, all taxi company earn liao lor"
any tom, dick n harry can drive taxis nowadays, so too much competition.
with the price increases, the taxi uncles will be the last one to benefit as inevitably there will be a slight dip in customers

when i was young, i always wonder why my dad n his frens like to attend those talks by the guys in blue at our pasar...some indian old man with stylo sideburns....clenching his fist and support the hammer....i tot only the blue collar workers support them then.
after the recent election, all the bullshit abt chose blue n repent....i think its more like choose white n repent alright and we are seeing it rather quickly too....keke

the drivers also seow one.
saw one traveling at 190+kmh

Pay more is "acceptable" if the drivers are nice and have basic courtesy. How many times have you taken a cab from airport, tell them Tampines or Pasir Ris and the driver gives u one fark face or mutters some sarcastic remarks like "win liao lor Pasir Ris...". I stay in East then how? Tell driver sorry, you can go to jurong one round then back to east?
