Hi,

Does any of you bros know or has done this before? I am trying to swop my 93' E36 leather seats with a 97' model. I think the front is not a problem, its bolt on. But the rear seat of the 97 model can it fit into my 93', especially the backrest? I think there is a bracket sticking out to lock the split backrest of the 97'. Also can my 93' fit nicely into the 97'?

I mean is it just plug and play thing or is there modification to be done which involve welding or such? Need your advise.

Thank you!

i've not encountered any differences...
does you '97 version feature an armrest in the BACK?... thats the only potentially different mounting.(i've not tried *this* though..havent been able to find the rear with the rest yet...:)

I only know leather for '97 are softer but more difficult to clean. If got arm rest behind I also want.

Hi Jin Teck and gwumpkus,

Thanks for the reply. Ya its because the 97' model is softer and the front passenger seat comes with height adjustment, thats why I am thinking of swopping. But I am not sure if both brackets are the same so that I can just swop and push it into the brackets in both cars. ???

No, the 97' model rear backrest is just a 50-50 split piece, no armrest leh.

oh...so the "misfit" u suspect is in the FRONT seats? hmm... they seem to go right in, the few times i did it for some friends..:)... i suppose if u're encountering "resistance", something might be out of alignment... AFAIK they go right in, rails and all..:)

I did ask Propel to look out for me for a pair of 97' front seat. Now more than 6 mths still no news. I think they want to sell full set and not just the front.:furious: If got lobang, can let me know. thks in advance :)

Re: Swopping of E36 Leather Seats, 97' & 93'

sorry guys, my one piece one piece english mislead you. I am thinking of swopping the full set. I believe the front seats should be able to fit and quite easy, just bolt on. I am worried about the rear seats, especially the backrest. My 93' model is just 1 big piece which fit into four brackets (I think), but the 97' model comes with a 50-50 plit......so no know can just push into my 93' model's brackets or not and also can my 1 big piece just push into the 97' models's brackets??? Thanks!

Re: Swopping of E36 Leather Seats, 97' & 93'

Ok, I swopped the two front seat no problem, but there was a problem with the rear seats backrest. The bracket on top to lock the split backrest was just screw on, so should be able to remove and swop over, at the bottom of the backrest has this bracket which is welded to the body, this can't remove, unless I cut it out and weld onto my car. I think you need this bracket to hold the two backrest through a connector (like hinges)...sigh!!!

Re: Swopping of E36 Leather Seats, 97' & 93'

That would be exactly what you need to do. Alternatively, you will have to forego the flipping function and use it like your current seat, backing plate and all.

Re: Swopping of E36 Leather Seats, 97' & 93'

I was lucky to lay my hand on these parts because the car belongs to my friend, unlucky because the car was already de-registered and stored in EPZ (Export Processing Zone), its very troublesome to get approval from LTA to tow it to a workshop, guess I gain some, just have to forgo some lah!

Ok lah, contended with the front seats and the extra back seats headrest, pretty new airflow sensor...hee!

Anyway, thanks Bro!
