Suspension/coilovers setup for track

Hi all,

This kept me thinking... When we talk about tuning an adjustable coilover setup for track, what variables would we be looking to tune? I understand the main thing is to make it "stiff" for the car to stick on the road, but I don't think it's just simply setting the coilovers to the stiffest settings and rolling out... or is it?

Sorry if I sound stupid but I have to get some answers :p

Hi Les,

i think every car behave very differently so it all depends on what exactly the driver wants on the track plus the type of tyres you use on the track as well. So don't think there's a standard set-up meant for all cars but of course a firmer ride is good for the corners too.

it will be good to try a few rounds on the track before one can actually know what is the best setting for the car.

* use semi-slick, it will make your ride more grounded..............(dry weather)
* just my opinion, i might be wrong........
cheers

For road car, 2 way adjustable is decent enough.
Adjustabilities usually involve compression n rebound. Some c/os allow for independent adjustment while some are just using single knob to tune.

So know how you would like to play then decide from there.

One thing for certain is , in my personal experiences, go for c/o with linear springs. Know what spring rates to use to suit your need.
Most cases tuners n manufacturers can recommend this. Some vendors can also advise, I mean seriously good vendors.
They may ask u some questionnaires and then come up with the solution.
