Spring sound

Don't think that it is your seat spring. You should go and check it out with a mechanic. Sounds like something is loose.

Dear all,

Wonder if anyone has experience this.. my E39 has a spring sound like "tnngg" whenever I apply sudden braking, change direction or go over a hump. It seems to be coming from inside the cabin and from passenger seat area.

I wonder if it is the spring coils inside the seat that is faulty or the seat belt fastener.. Hopefully not from gearbox or something major.

Thanks for advise and sharing
JH, it happened on 2 diff occasions to my previous e39. 1st was the bushing & 2nd was the springs..wear n tear. Bring to workshop, let'em hoist up the car n check.

Thanks AC Boy,

Could you clarify bushing and springs means from where hah? Sorry I am not techie type.

Can I bring back to PML? My car no more warranty...The last time you did for the bushings and springs was at PML? Let me know the workshop and damage pls.

Thanks a million!

I am also experiencing the same thing. My ride is a 320, just 6 mths old. This has been happening over the last 2 months; problem is it always goes away and comes again another day. History is as follows:
1st time, heard loud metallic clanking sounds whilst menouvering in multi storey carpark. Everytime I either go up or down slope and turn, the very loud sound came on. Panicked and was gonna send the car to PML the next morning. However, the sound disappeared when I drove off.

After that, softer sounds kept coming on and off. Sometimes like something is loose and sometimes like spring recoil. Really fed-up because everytime I make up my mind to send to PML, the problem somehow disappears.

Can anyone help pls?
