Are all BMWs electronically limited at 155mph? Is that a hoax?

Reason I ask is because I broke that mark just yesterday (BOLEH!!!) and I've not de-limit yet :screwedu:

My meter bounces off 260km/hr and I have not delimit yet. I feel the car is much more capable that the meter reading of 280km/hr.

Re: Speed Limit

BMW speedometer has a bit of variance.... I thought I hit 250km/h but the car wasn't cutting out too.

Re: Speed Limit

guys,

do remember to check the speed ratings of your tires before attempting your high speed runs. most of you will be rated above 270km/h anyway, but just in case....

speed safely!

Re: Speed Limit

this is a high speed thread ! >250km/hr wow ! must take care at tat speed!

Brudder, Can you try and see and post back here if never register. If register, then i suppose i wont be looking out for ur reply. :lol2:
The challenge at high speed to brake is to watch out for pricks/predict their actions esp in Malaysia where it is very hard to know what their intentions are. Unlike our accustomed experience with most singapore drivers, malaysia remains relatively harder to predict.

Re: Speed Limit

I did my max speed run (max speed because my speedo's max speed is 260km/h or 160mph) at the stretch from the 2nd last Toll Station to the refuelling point (where the final toll is before we hit Msian immigration checkpoint). It was a good 20+ km run.

I saw some ang moh pricks in sports bike and full racing gear and they did the run with me. Very dangerous I may say because they were zigzagging like nobody's business.

The take off at mid range speed for those bikes is amazing. A CGT cannot even catch up with them! I had to let them go because I fear I will run them over in the event that they buang and land on the road :furious:

Re: Speed Limit

Oh yeah and I have to add --> the car or rather the engine is not strained to the max at all at that speed and it can still push. I believe 300km/h is in the order if we have sufficient road to play with and not forgetting with our balls in intact in the nutsack :lol2::lol2::lol2:

Re: Speed Limit

ang moh pricks because they ride bikes so well? I know a few asian pricks as well

Re: Speed Limit

Physicist - Good to see you enjoying the full potential of your car, but you could have chosen your words more considerately to describe the bikers you had for company on your trip up north. The bikers may indeed have been ang mohs and they may have been pricks to boot in their road manners, but linking the 2 together in the one sentence is not in good taste. It gives the impression that they were pricks because they were ang mohs. I'm sure that was not your intention.

Reading through some of the local motoring forums here in Oz, you won't get far before coming across (a presumably ang moh) writer who bags "Asian drivers" who are incapable of driving their "riced up cars." It's not nice, if not outright insulting to those of Asian backgrounds. The internet has made the BMW community much better connected than it otherwise would be. We should be more careful in our choice of language.

Re: Speed Limit

Chill out mates. I know both you and Phil are Aussies. I used to work in an Aussie firm too!

And that statement has nothing to do with Ang Mohs. They were pricks because of the way they ride and they happen to be white skinned. Absolutely no link at all. I see today is Monday and mood may be a lil too low.

No offence meant.

Re: Speed Limit

Geez... you may like to refrain from doing so in future mate. There are some very fiery characters on the internet :D

Good to see that everybody has kissed and made up.

- Hope I didn't cause offense by jumping on you on your choice of language. I was sure that what you said and what you meant were 2 entirely different things. The nature of the net is that nuances can be hard to convey in words alone.

And what exactly were you driving to exceed the sound barrier? I guess it would be a little faster than a 318i? (Insert smiley here)
