Re: Someone hit my rear!!!

By the way, does anyone know how long does it take for 3rd party claims? Do I need to pay for the repairs first?

Exactly, wouldn't it look weird since the mtechs have exhaust openings on both sides but only the car only has exhaust on one side?

Anyway, mine's the 130i, no mtechs to fit leh

u r mistaken la bro. mtechs have opening on left hand side too. available for 3 and 1 series.

ur 130 is already fitted with mtech kit. look at ur larger front intake at the bottom, side skirts and rear diffuser. comes standard with 130. probably why u didnt notice.

Normally it will take at least 3months.

If he hits you from the back, just take pic, his driver licence and his insurance company name, go to insurance association at ayer rajah cresent to make a report. I believe if you bring to PML, the CSA will tell you what to do. Since this is a clear cut case and you are claiming his insurance, you can ask for a replacement car. Put it that you need to meet clients and with a crack bumper, it is detrimental to your business, blah blah....

3 months before I can get the bumper changed? That's crazy! What if I pay for the replacement first? Possible?

Sorry to miscom. 3 months is fir the whole process. In short when you bring your car to PML:
1. CSA ask you if you are claiming against the other party insurance, obviously yes, PML will ONLY start repair when they have got the go ahead from the other party, which includes waiting for the surveyor to come and validate, which can take a few days!!
2. After the other part's insurance agrees to the claim, PML may take another week or 2 to fix your car.
3. You can choose to leave your car at PML from day1 and request for a replacement car, due to the nature of your work, etc. However, PML will ask you to pay for the car rental first and claim for you.

If you don't want to wait so long for the insurance company to dingdong, PML will give you the alternative to claim against your own insurance first and in your next insurance renewal, you have to remember to inform your own insurance abt the claim against other party, so that they do not penalize your NCB. To me, this option is risky as we may forget.

Just leave your car and request for a BMW replacement car. Claim all the way!!! The dude want to cough and don't give face, so you don't have to give face and help save money for his insurance company.

Re: Someone hit my rear!!!

Thanks Merlin for the info. I have spoken to pml. They say the quickest way is to claim from my insurance first and get the repair started. However, car rental can't begin until surveyor has done his job which is most likely on Monday. Pml said it's a clear cut case so should be able to claim 100%.

Re: Someone hit my rear!!!

claiming rental car is norm ? imagine that if the downtime is 1-2 weeks, the rental cost would be high and this cost is transferred to insurance company and insurance cost increase.

OT:
anyone volunteer to kiss my bum ? i need mtech rear and looking to sign up a 12 months massage therapy due to spasm ... can claim ? .... kekeke

I know of workshops who can do such unethical stuff like upgrading to
a better bumper from the original ones. They will even offer to settle ur paperwork,
and throw in more goodies for u.
. They just claim from insurance, and also making money in the process. This is precisely the reason why motor insurance premium keeps increasing.
The industry is bleeding from such fraudulent ways.
In the end, it comes back to us in the form of increased premiums.
I hate such workshops and will not hesitate to report them. They r the bane to the motor insurance industry.

Its a norm to either have a car rental or an amount that equates to your transportation cost. Insurance companies will keep quiet to avoid that if possible...imagine taking Bus, Mrt and Walk (BMW) for the next 2 weeks if you do not have alternatives... :)

So many accidents on the road nowadays, saving one car rental bill for 2 weeks is like a drop in the ocean to the insurance companies......but a Tsunami to the victim (inconveniences)

easier said than done.
i dun blame the workshop. who do not want to earn more money?
i blame LTA for not having a better system and standard to control the situation.
i blame the insurance company too for taking advantage of the consumers.

yes, bro.
its easier said than done.
this is like asking restaurants all over the world to remove sharks fin off their menus, in order to save the sharks.

Its a tough call when u r presented with the opportunity of 'upgrading' to a better bodykit, paid for by 'someone else', since they bang you, so they pay.
and u would wonder if u hadn't taken up the offer, someone else will, and will your integrity have made a difference at all? since so many accidents happen every day.....

well, to me, by doing the right thing, even if the difference is insignificant, it is good enough.
because I have done my part. Clear conscience.
ha, i always remember a friend who says. Man is doing, Heaven is watching.

LTA has been monitoring the situation, as now there are so new rules in place; having to report the accident within 24 hours to your insurer etc, to stem the damage done by these pirates.

and insurance companies do not take advantage as well, the industry is well regulated and MAS knows how the companies determine the premiums.
It is well documented that the motor insurance industry is bleeding every year, for many years.
companies exist to make a living, not charity.
if the entire industry goes bust, everyone else along the chain suffers.

just my 2 cents.
