Hi everybody,

Its been a long long long time since I posted... thanks for the pms and sms-es.. no worries, all is well. My absence could be attributed to change of career plans and business development, hence havent found much time to surf the forums.

Today I am posting because my car (Maserati) just got vandalised in my own condo basement carpark. I noticed a car parked next to me had similar scratch marks too.

My car's damage is extensive - rear wheel arch panel 2 scratches, and one deep long scratch from driver door all the way to front wheel arch.. It looks horrible, and its disgusting that these imbeciles strike in a private condo. And we thought "well to do" singaporeans are graceful..

Anyway, I will probably respray my car, maybe change colour or something. Now waiting to make police report and bring up this issue to CDL and the condo management.

I need some help from you guys and gals - where can I get those in-car CCTV cameras? I need it installed ASAP, definitely before CNY..

Hey Doc.... Good to have you back.... Not a very nice way to start off your first thread/post of the year but what happened is most unfortunate. Whats more, it happened in your own private estate. Shocking...

It could be by one of the little kiddies in your estate. Sounds more like a prank as not only your car was vandalised. Actually, you can request the management to install more CCTVs in the parking area. That's what we did for ours.

uncle - yeah man.... what a day.... police just came and left... nice guys, professional and helpful. Yup, i will be forwarding the police report to the condo - they really need to wake up their security... i have people appearing at my door without notice! scary..., the guards just let them in at their whims and fancy..

Yup... It has happened quite a number of times when visitors "hit and run". Right in front of the CCTV camera. Even when confronted. they still deny it, asking for proof. And of coz it's proof that they got. Fresh out of the video library... haha.

I remembered once,... we just collected our new car for like under a week and this visitor banged into out front while reversing. Scratched the grille and a speck of paintwork. He had to fork out 900 bucks in the end. Not worth if he hadn't been that reckless...

The management has to do something about this issue unlilke for other public places. It's not too much for them to install CCTV cameras to cover all angles of the estate as this will be to the benefit and well being of the common all. As for the security staff allow strangers in, they have to be wound up a notch

Sorry to hear about your car getting scratched...you should catch that fellow and chop off his hands or something :furious:

But beware of the potential backlash...some people may be even more tempted to vandalise your car if they know it's under surveillance.

Maybe it's time to move house, with your own personal car porch :)

Sorry to hear about your predicament. What abt using motion sensors? Saw in US forums, got those with activated voice if people near it. When they touch car, got loud siren.
Can scare the bejesus outta the vandals.

sorry to hear abt ur little incident... damn bad of the idiot who did it!

at my condo... the visitors park at a totally different place far away from the residents. plus the security guys will always take down visitors particulars... even movers/deliveries n taxis.

maybe u should suggest that to ur condo's mgt... else CCTV the whole carpark!

so if someone scratches my car... its the definitely a resident. ha...

hope u get ur cam (i think the motion sensor one sounds cool) ... n most of all... get ur car done up nicely again before CNY k!!

Hiya, sorry to hear about your predicament. You can try this accessory shop JL Sim Lim in serangoon gardens. I have seen some cars installed CCTV cameras in their cars before and successfully captured on screen he culprits that had scratched the cars in a particular condo. You can try calling Mr Lim at 62826180 to see if he has closed shop for the new year. May have to wait awhile before someone picks up the phone.

hello..welcome back..long time no see..

sorry to hear that man..yea it sucks real bad..especially on a Maser..RAA!!! kill them all..in my carpark,theres this white ITR with cameras inside..looks like a webcam..its stick onto the dash board..but i always stand in front of the car n take pics..dunno if the owner is watching me from his house..hahaha but its pretty cool to have a camera..heard that Condo Security just let people in with nice cars..so its easy for such things to happen..


oh btw..respray to yellow..change the rims to black..+ brakes also yellow..chio..i have that car..very nice..yellow banana..

hope to see ur car again!

Bro which ever camera you get make sure that it is the infra red ones which can capture images in the dark and not the old model ones which can only capture when there is light. I donno about your place but some carparks including basement carparks tend to be dimly lit so the infra red ones will be able to capture the images properly despite the lighting condition.

I truly understand how it feels, Make sure you announce that your car has been fitted with CCTV camera because through experience, before my cars were fitted with CCTV cameras, my cars used to be vandalised in my condo but after i announced, touch wood, no one has touched my cars...
