hey bro bimmers, just to check with you guys..they claimed that smg is actually the same as maunal but manual can do clutch-in+rev then throw clutch for pickup..can smg cars actually rev at neutral then put to gear 1 at the same time? i havent tried it but i believe its possible to be done but just whether would it spoil the smg gear box? i believe if they do the clutchin+rev thingy on a pure manual it wouldnt spoil it right?

Re: SMG rides owners~!

The SMG computer basically matches the rev to your gearbox when you downshift perfectly all the time.

So far, I've driven hard and it has never failed me when it comes to shifting down extremely smoothly during cornering.

A professional manual driver can do the same of course, but even then sometimes it may not be smooth. It's the same whether you do it manually or SMG, just that the usual wear and tear components will be your gearbox, clutch...

Re: SMG rides owners~!

thank you for your reply bro, so which means doing that on a manual and smg would be the same outcome? ultimately would you discourage such usage on the smg gearbox? would it be too hard on it? or rather do people on smg even does it? i once did this neutral reving stun on my old steptronic ride and it was so fun when the whole gearbox BOOM after sometime hahaha anyway i dont wish that to happen to my smg gearbox..gona be very exp and fked deep by my dad lol

Re: SMG rides owners~!

If u want to throw clutch for the SMG car, u might as well use the launch control feature.

Basically, u turn off DSC, Switch on Sport Mode and when u kick down, the car will rev to 4.5k rev before dumping clutch. However, the factory guide is that u can do it around 10 times before u need a new clutch.

The other way to do it is to hold the car on left brake while in 1st gear and rev to 2k rev before lifting ur left leg, plant ur right leg to jump start.

And to answer ur question specifically, yes u can rev the car and then put it into gears. The effect will be the same as the Launch Control, but in LC mode, the car will detect slip and give u maximum power possible and a blistering shift the moment it hit the redline without u doing anything except looking straight.
