SMG paddle shifter throwing tantrums

Hi SMG drivers, need some advice from you...
I'm currently driving a 03 e46 325ci SMG.
Car's great, but occassionally the SMG paddle shifter fails to work. Luckily when it fails, it's always from the start of the journey, and not half way thru my drive.
Fortunately the gear shifter has been 100% reliable, but this has me raising some concerns. Wondering if any of you has encountered such issues?

What do you mean..fail to work? Your gear just refuses to engage or?

sorry if I didnt make myself clear. What I meant by "fail to work" is that sometimes when I use the paddles,..... nothing. But the stick shift works everytime...

hmmm....lemme see here. did the paddles not engage when upshifting or downshifting ?

Paddles doesnt engage both on Upshift and downshit. But sometimes after driving for a while, they just comes alive again... wonder if they need some kinda warming up?

I had the same problem as you... I resolved it by buying new paddle shifters.

so you mean it's probably just some bad connection with the shifters, and nothing mechanical? ... that sounds comforting... cool... so may I also ask where you got it repaired? and what was the damage like?
