Silverish Lining in E46 Headlights

Hi,

Recently I saw an E46 which has a silver lining (cardboard?)inside the headlights. It makes the headlights looks whiter & brighter with the silver lining covering the original black plastics interiors.

Anyone have any idea where I can get these silver linings installed? And at what cost?

Thanks.

Hello Zen, that's the headlight trim. Unfortunately u didn't ask earlier!! I swapped my silver trim with a bro for his black ones!

What a lot of pple do is that they remove the black trim and spray them a silver color. Just make sure that the paint is heat resistant and dry before u fit them back together again!

Cheers!

And I'm the Lucky Guy that Sam is talking about..
I jus swapped my Black Headlight Trimming with Sam at the meetup ytd...

Silverish Lining in E46 Headlights

Hi all,

I attach a picture of the silverish lining I was talking about.
Sorry about the bad quality of the pic as it was taken using my handphone in dim lights.

Looks to me like there is a cardboard lining.
Where to get this?

cheers,
Zen

its not cardboard, luckily. :)

That's the headlight trim that we were discussing above. U can go to our Workshop page and call up for price but the easiest is to spray it yourself!

Cheers

Hi ! Zen.

As Mr Sam has said this is Titanium Trims for Headlight.

You can either spray your original Black Trims to Titanium Colour or change it totally. You can purchase the Titanium Trim from Eng Soon at about S$150++.

Please decide whether will you install the Angel Eyes for your car. If yes, please do it together. In this way you can save money and hit 2 birds with 1 stone :)

The best is to join the Feb 05 meet-up before you do it. In this way, you will not regret later :)

If your car is Silver Colour will look good but if your car is Black then you may consider to leave it alone (IMHO)

See you around ;)

BMWSILVER,

That's true! Wanted to spray my trim silver... but then my grills are chrome. Then I painted my grills black and it looked perfect. Then i changed to xenons and it came with silver headlight trim... wah lau... only until the Jan meetup that i managed to get a pair of black trim to swap with!!

Hi ! Sam.

Your car is looking sharp and fiercer :) Very easy to spot your car from a distant :inlove:

Yah ! Dark colour car look better without the headlight trim.

But there is a white colour car look even better with black headlight trim.
You know who I am referring to right :) The Great White 8)

Aiyah... typo only, why need to apologize! :wavey:

So how the headlight trim fits into your colour scheme is what u should be looking at! ACSCAB3 had his painted red to match the colour of his car! Turned out quite nicely too. There was also a black coupe with red trim... that one looked like BIG eyebags!!

Cheers!

Headlight Trim

Hi all,

You guys are so helpful.

The car I saw was black color with the titanium trims.. looks nice to me, or rather looks special to me cos it's not 'original' looking.

My ride is black.. and hearing from you guys, I am sceptical now about whether to change my trims from black to silver.. hmm.. think I may have to survey around more ... the next meetup could be a good ave to check it out..:)

cheers,
zen

Hi guys, I'm a newbie in the forum. A 2005 E46 driver representing the Philippines ;)

I drive a titanium silver E46, and I was wondering if these headlight inserts are OEM or an aftermarket product. I was thinking of painting it, but I heard some bad stories about bubbles forming from using regular BMW paint.

Thanks for the help guys!

If you can't buy them, just paint them.

I have quite a few friends in here who have done so, without any major issues.

The really MAJOR issue is that the seal may not be done right after fitting the trim back into the headlight cluster, which may lead to headlight fog/condesation.

As for the paint, just let it dry and set before you place it back into the cluster.

And oh yes, welcome to the forums!!!
