Sick & Tired of Brake Dust!!!

did some search last nite on the www... heard that changing the brake pads will work... the brand is Axxis... anyone know where to get em here?
apparently helps a damn lot... by reducing the amount of dust during braking!!!

Don't brake. Learn to swerve.
End of problem.

But the way you drive.... I'm not surprised you are choking in brake dust.

I have gone beyond beting perturbed by brake dist loh... I am more concerned with leather seat dust.

There is the Bendix Ultimate which was quite popular apart from Axxis. Vaguely remembered that they are similiar pads made by Bendix but marketed as Axxis in US, need confirmation on this from those who used them. Anyway, I happen to see the Bendix the other day available for E46 and if not wrong, cost about $120 with installation. Best to call to check availability and confirm price, 64842555.

Dude

Nice seeing you at PML yesterday!

Anyway, I have read alot about this and most agree that stock pads although dusty, bites very well compared to some after market pads that claim lower dust residue.

Some of these pads are indeed better in lower dust residue but have to be broken in properly before they even serve their primary purpose decently. Ryan did an extensive test on his set of after mkt pads before and realised that they only bite properly after some runs of hard breaking under trial and error scenario.

And not forgetting the possibility of break squeal that comes with some after mkt pads. But then again, stock pads squeal as well for some people.

IMO, try to live with the dust from stock pads as they will get better as they are more broken in. The very reason being that they work well for our rides.

Cheers!

tobynik,

likewise dude... hope u sought out the kit for the right price... :)
good advice... will hold on to the stock pads and see if i can groom myself into a routine of washing rims!!!

tanzy, (aka. "closet beng")

Doc,
seat dust would be a thing of the past... if u have passengers... keke!!!

cheers dudes!!!

Geoff Ang,

Next time you will see "VTEC Power" on my rear glass. :laughlik:

haha... maybe u and doc yuen can open sticker shop together... might be a lucrative business... noting the steady increase of bengs in singapore!!!

Bringing this back to topic.

Does anyone know where to get Mintex brake pads? I heard they are pretty good.

ryan,

Was it Barney or the 3 series?
I agree the 600km burn in for pads is rubbish. :screwedu:

Bedding in the pads for about 5-600km is normal. Unfortunately, I was the one that introduced these brakes pads to Ryan. However, I hadn't encountered the problems that Ryan had.

Cheerio!

I am about to change my brake pads pretty soon and it's Axxis Ultimate. Street and light track used. Works from cold. The review is v good, produces much less dust than stock..
I will post my review from personal use later on..
