Shock bottoming out

yesterday i was travelling at 110-120 and run through a pot hole. heard quite a loud sound of "tong", which sounds like shock bottoming out. by the way, i'm using kw v1 coilver.

after the incident, i feel the suspension still works great :goodup:the car is stable and not bouncy.

is there any concern of leaking or shock damage ? can the workshop mechanic do a visual check or test drive just to ascertain the suspension is alright.

thanks !

Re: Shock bottoming out

May be only one of the shockS has greater wear and tear.

Go to the same road again. Try another wheel.

I think you should be worried about damage to the wheel and tyre rather than the shocks which were meant to absorb shocks

Re: Shock bottoming out

noted. by visual check there is no damage to the wheel. that is the very first thing i check ... hehe. i believe the tyres go through the pot hole nicely as the pot hole is not very deep. it's the impact from speed and absorbing the weight (2 adults + luggages)

Re: Shock bottoming out

You just take note over the next few days if all is ok...
Yes it is the speed and impact, but the wheels and tires take the hit first. I know a few who busted tires and wheels just by going thru potholes. Even forge wheels do get damaged.

Re: Shock bottoming out

u hit the bump stop
nothign to worry bout ..

in my previous E90, i bent 2 wheels going over a pothole. Couldn't tell visually. only found out when i sent wheels for balancing. FYI
