JOHOR BARU: Shell's V-Power is exempted from the 20-litre restriction imposed on foreign vehicles on the purchase of petrol within 50km of the border.

Johor Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Department director Che Halim Abd Rahman said the department had received a new directive from the ministry on Thursday, stating that Shell V-Power was exempted.

"So only RON 95, RON 97 and diesel are included in the ruling.

"Shell V-Power is considered a premium grade of petrol," he told The Star here yesterday.

He added that the new directive had been circulated to all departments nationwide.

During the first week of implementation of the 20-litre petrol cap, Che Halim said all petrol stations statewide had abided by the ruling.

"We have not received reports of anyone not following the ruling.

"All petrol stations have cooperated fully with the department," he said, adding that its personnel were patrolling all stations in the state.

Johor Baru MP Datuk Shahrir Samad said that the new development would complicate the issue.

"The fine-tuning of the ruling shows there are many weaknesses.

"I will leave it to the wisdom of the ministry to implement the ruling effectively," said the former Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Minister

Never believe these dumb policy makers... half the time they don't know what they are talking about and before you know it, they do a "U" turn on you. Best is don't bother.

Re: Shell v power exempted from 20l rule

U turn to Z turn anytime.
The only thing that is important in their mind is $ whether is central or local gov as all of them has a big pocket that has to be filled from bottom to top hierarchy

latest!!

i just came back from a golf game...

i was pumping my petrol, and the attendant promptly hit the 20L into the machine, as in , predefine the pump qty...
i was about to just tell him..give me a break... probably only another 10L more...

guess what.

He told me, one pump 20L, you are in pump no. 7, pls move your car to pump 9 (next pump) and then pump another 20L, then go into the cashier and settle two bills.

i love astonished.

he looked at me, saying,
1 pump 20L... you are free to pump at the other pumps after you are done.

W E I R D... shuffling through the different pumps in the station... knn... one day i will pump and just drive off... oops. kidding.

Re: Shell v power exempted from 20l rule

here are the methods reported in the newspaper how s'porean circumvent the 20L ruling. anyway, don't have to wait long the 20L ruling will be lifted in no time.

1. they would use credit cards issued by Malaysian banks to fill up.

2. another way was to pay cash for the first 20 litres and use their credit card for the rest.

3. a third method was to fill up 20 litres from one petrol station and proceed to another for another 20 litres. some Singaporeans would fill up at a petrol station and return 15 minutes later to pump petrol again.

Ahbengdriver's method : Tried and tested last week.

4. Pump Attendant asked "cash or credit card Beng?" ABD "Cash lah, cash cant trace who right? After all I look like Malaysian. Top up full tank about 40 litres of V-power for me ok?"

5. Pump attendant "Beng, only 20 litres allowed. Klang is within 50km" ABD "OK understood. After I pumped first 20 litres, I pay with my UOB credit card. Then I top up the rest of another 15+ litres and asked my wife to pay with her Citi credit card.

Swee?
