Sharp screeching sound from brakes at very low speed

jinooi, why so aggressive? red bean was just talking about his own experience and he is right in saying that it's far from just about bedding-in

the screeching involves many other factors other than bedding in.. you can go around and count the number of cars with totally clean rotors on OE pads that do not screech. Bedding does help when the pad is an aggressive pad, not so when a more street type pad.

Totally agree to yr statement.
Sounds logical n in practical terms.
Drove so many new/old cars b4 but never do I encounter such screech sound, til I drive my E60.
:woowooo:

Ha, that's because bimmers use more aggressive brake pads?

?
no bro, I m on stock previously. Its more like BMW's design fault that if they use such stock brake kit...:wtf:

Re: Sharp screeching sound from brakes at very low speed

The sound from the brakes is largely from the rear brakes and I have it when I had stock 323i brake kit with stock brake pads, as well as currently stock 335 brake kit with cool carbon pads. so, probably a design issue? maybe I should change to other BBK for the rear to test?? :)

jinooi, just saying maybe it was the sarcasm and smugness (tone, icons, etc.) before that which riled him

that's what i'm saying - it's because BMW stock brake pads are more aggressive than other marques. but then again, BMWs have always been renown for handling and performance.

main complaints? screeching brakes and lots of brake dust.

sounds like you need to try bedding in your brakes... changing to BBK? nope, you won't solve the problem.

just trying to prevent people from getting the wrong info and running to their mechanics when they could've saved time and money and solved them problem themselves...

i'm open to open discussion and debate, but unless you've got hard facts to back you up, don't assume your answers are the absolute truth. that's what forums are for. right?

so whats the solution to this prob gents?

1. google 'stoptech' and go to their 'technical review'
2. read their white papers on braking technology
3. compare with other sites, esp. those with write-up on braking systems for racing
4. draw you own conclusions
5. try bedding in your brakes

if all else fails, let one of the old birds in this forum know. they'll be able to guide you along on how to do a proper bedding in.

and most importantly 6. - HAVE FUN!!!

Re: Sharp screeching sound from brakes at very low speed
