Share same engine unit for Audi VW Skoda

Hi all,
Is it true that these cars actually share same engine between each other ?

If that's the case, then with the same engine, Audi sells higher as compared to VW and then Skoda. Engine is the heart of the car so higher price for Audi is purely just for the body, right ?

Why don't each of them has it's own unique engine ??

Anything to share ?

All owned by Volkwagen group....share same powertrain to save cost (economy of scale) but of different finishing and specs and branding targeting at different level of customer..

Volkswagen (called Fowee in Deusthland -spelling mistake here) is targeting mass market with Audi being the premium brand in line with BMW and mercedes..

Skoda (Made in Cheskolovakia) is for Eastern Europe or budget sensitive customer.

It's the Czech Republic now...Slovakia is a seperate country now. And Skoda is the budget brand in the Volkswagen Group but the brand is sold internationally, not just for Eastern Europe...

You are right,,my current affair knowledge/geography damm bad.. Failed all the time...

Skoda is sold internationally la and there is another version SEAT also use same same engine

It's the Czech Republic now...Slovakia is a seperate country now. And Skoda is the budget brand in the Volkswagen Group but the brand is sold internationally, not just for Eastern Europe...
