Servicing Pricing Reference

Own a e60. Just went for a servicing - oil change - Mobil Gold (250), change front control arm bushing -original BMW parts (280), computerised wheel alignment (100). Total was 630 but got managed to wrangle a $30 discount. So damage was $600,

Any views on the prices so we can do a comparison of charges?

They actually charged you for wheel alighment....wth man :furious:

Re: Servicing Pricing Reference

Its not done in PML. Would cost double of that. First of all PML use Castrol around 280, control arm bush would be around 400 bucks. Wheel alignment around 300 bucks. All in probably close to a grand.

Confirmed, my alignment was also $60. Or if you are replacing your tires then it should FOC.
For control arm bush you can try calling Eng Soon to ask, their number is in the reference page.... (I cannot provide comparison because mine is an E36 - only $44  ).

Free 4-wheels alignment, originally at $240 (4 wheels x $60), but FOC because of 4 tyres change  . Also don't why leh, FOC so never ask :nehnehhh: But when I did some major parts change at another place, it costs $60

I do think Louis is right. U do mean balancing of wheels right? Normal Computerised 4-wheel Alignment cost about $60-$65. Balancing of 2 wheels with rotation is about $30. If it is $60 to balance a wheel, that's way way too expensive sia...

:)

So sorry for confusion, I made a mistake in my earlier post  . I c**k-eye - the 4x$60=$240 is actually for the tyres. The wheel alignment was stated as FOC on the work order.
But anyway, I went there long time ago for some free 18-pts check given by DBS esso-card (garmen workshop). But I did not go back since then ha ha :laughlik: The workshops recommended in this forum are more trustworthy:goodup:

Re: Servicing Pricing Reference

Computerised alignment - the process where they fix all kinds of sensor-looking things on your wheels and some kind of brace and hook up to a computer, then they look at the screen, run the wheels and adjust the angle/camber/etc (not sure of details) until they are happy.

Not the process where they spin your tyres one by one and hammer weights by the side... I think that comes free when you buy tyres but not the former.

The workshop was Euro Auto, fronted by Ah Leng, ex Riverview I think he was the head repair guy there up to two years back...

Normally, there is no reason to do wheel alignment when changing rims or tyres. Balancing is normally not charged seperately.

Wheel alignment, i doubt.

Re: Servicing Pricing Reference

did my computerised wheel alightment at Mike's (kian teong @ sin ming) and it aint nowhere near 100. somemore, heard that they charge cheaper nowadays.

Re: Servicing Pricing Reference

the question of expensive or not expensive is subjective.
for budget conscious ppl like me, i can tell u the repairs and servicing done will be much much cheaper than what he posted but my usual workshop is just an ordinary workshop, not those famous ones.
to some ppl, its the service, branding of the workshop, not to mention the sweettalking at some places. i know some folks who die die just go to PML, mostly expats....hehe. they will rather die if u ask them go to some small local workshop...haha.

thats where the forum comes in, u have doubts u post, the bros answer and share.
if u are receptive, maybe can try their recommendations for next repair or servicing and see how it goes.

Re: Servicing Pricing Reference

wah i have never seen oil change so expensive. not sure how much is a bmw oil filter but oil like mobil gold is like $13/quart if buy outside. 1q=0.9xxx l i tink.
