Servicing of aftermarket air filters

Hi,

My car is serviced by PML, but as I have a K&N filter installed, I suppose that PML will not touch that during the service.

Will I have to reinstall the original filter before service, or can I send it in with the K&N filter?

What will an outside workshop charge to service the filter only? I suppose that's the only way if PML will not service the filter.

Is anyone facing the same situation? Any advice would be appreciated!!!

Re: Servicing of aftermarket air filters

Hi, just tell PML not to touch the air filter.
As for servicing of the filter, K&N is basically fit and forget.
Only need to reoil every 100k km, which I think can be left untouch for at least 3 years.

Alternatively.

I think you can just buy a K&N Filtercharger Cleaning Kit.
IIRC, costs about $25-30. Then you can DIY.

Try Speedworks at Genting Lane.

Re: Servicing of aftermarket air filters

must tell PML don't throw your K&N filter away!
Think workshops outside surely will charge you for cleaning the filter.

Re: Servicing of aftermarket air filters

Get the cleaning kit and clean it yourself, there are instructions together with the cleaning kit. Pretty straight forward. Save lotsa money. Can use for many times. But remember not to overoil the filter thought. :)

Re: Servicing of aftermarket air filters

Actually i think drop-ins dont require much cleaning la.

But i wont say the same for open-pods already.... Open-pods suck in the littlest things.

try autobacs for cleaning ba... $5 per cleaning...

this is a good tip. how often, in terms of mileage, should we clean ?

Re: Servicing of aftermarket air filters

for the k&n drop-in, is around 100,000 km.

Re: Servicing of aftermarket air filters

$5 at Autobacs is only for their service charge...you will still need to get the cleaning/oiling set from K&N for about $28.00

hope that helps
