Servicing interval - 12k or 25k?

i just sent my car for 1st servicing at 25k km.
recently i heard that bmw recommends 12k intervals, and software update to reflect that.

however when i collected my car (2 weeks ago), the next service is 50k !
still 25k service interval.

is the 12k interval mandatory?

IMO, you may service your car at 12k or 1 year whichever comes first.

I have the same question....my e90 will hit 40,000km and i prefer to service it now and not wait for the full 50,000km.....whats the basis for setting servicing intervals for older models at 25,000km and newer models at 12,000km?

Why do neweer models need to be serviced more often?

for me, i service at every 10k km. i had a bad experienced when i did every 25k km esp the engine oil.
its better save den sorry...

I think the official BMW/PML states around 25k km service interval, which might be shorter depending on driving style as indicated by on board computer. PML service technician has been recommending a 12k km engine oil change, citing harsh hotter humid Singapore climate as the reason for shorter oil change interval. This is based on their personal opinion. Anyway, it never hurts the car or the warranty for shorter oil change intervals - we just spend more $$$.
