Hi guys,

any recommended private servicing workshop that does BMW? Had approach a few but unable to do because they didn't have the diagnostic tool for our car. Would be better if the price is reasonable.

Thank you.

PML is a rip off indeed. I have been (stupidly) topping up engine oil every 5k at PML for close to $40 per litre until i found out that any petrol station with a servicing garage can do the same for $29. Imagine, 7 litre of engine oil is replaced every servicing, that's close to S$70 savings (i am sure 7 litre bottle is cheaper than 7 x 1 litre, but you get the picture)....

I am looking to service my 523 E60 soon. I checked out the website for the above workshops. BVO in particular, does it service E60? This is what i saw from their website?

"The system offers total diagnostic coverage of all engines, chassis and body systems on E34, E36/Z3, E38,E39, E46, E53 and Mini."

Re: Servicing Help

sorry. me new to bm cars. just collected a resale e60, 05 dec model. any advise which workshop to do a "first" servicing? (i never trust the dealers when they say "oh, baru service liao).

also, i am hearing very very loud tyre noise. is this normal for bmw? can it be a wheel bearing issue? seems like it is louder from the front.

Re: Servicing Help

Avoid PML at all costs. Even if you have to die, it's better to be reborn and get your car serviced somewhere else.

Get your tires checked. Could be flatspotting or alignment issue.

PML increased the oil price? It was around the same price as petrol station back in 2007...I have since changed to Mobil 1 0w40 instead of Castrol and pay only $13.70 per litre...

Re: Servicing Help

Your $40 per litre oil could have included a lot of other ancillary costs such as labour cost (for pouring in the oil for you), vehicle check (check for oil leaks), computer diagnostics (standard procedure whenever you bring in your car to PML) etc.

Check your PML bill the next thing you do a oil change, if you needed any more than just visually checking for leaks and updating the oil change intervals, I am sure there will be extra charges....

Nope - that is just the cost of engine oil. In other words, i coudl have bought it directly from BMW and it woudl have cost me the same $40. I just checkecd the invocie again, it's actually 42....
