Service Interval in iDrive Shortening...

Hi Buddies,

Anybody encounter this? My e60 523i initial service interval shows 20,000km for the next oil change.

After driving for 3 months, it changed to 18,000km. Now, after around 8months, the current service interval oil change in iDrive shows 13,000km.

How come the figures keep dropping? I was thinking that 20,000 to do the next oil change will be too late. Now that it is moving to 13,000km, it is sort of good news for PML to change oil for me. But how come it changes? Thought it is fixed?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

i thought that is the countdown to service appointment with PML? my countdown from 20k in 15mths to 9k in 11mth now.

OIC..... no wonder it is going down every month. Thought it is fixed. Make sense now!

Will be going for oil change soon anyway, and don't think would want to wait for another 13,000km. Will call PML to check if can do oil change or will visit J4C or BVO.

Pingman, how often you change oil? I did mine at 5,000km (1st change) not at PML but at J4C. Think 20,000km really too long liao...

Do not think the KM remaining indicates the true KM travelled. It depends on how you drive as well. Check properly the mileage of your last service and compare it to your current mileage..

pingman does his at 10000km on recommendation of the nice bros in the forum. did it at BVO using OWS 5W-50. after change bring to CAS to add METAL5 $48 into the engine oil http://www.mycas.com.sg/special.html. now engine really smooth and quiet and very little turbo-charged humming feeling.

i dont think i will want to go back to PML ever since outside workshop like J4C or BVO can do much better, faster and better price.

bros.. make time to read the driver's manual that come with the car.. it really help, you know!

Re: Service Interval in iDrive Shortening...

think the service indicator takes into account of the number of starts/stops when we fire up the engine as well... but of course, mileage is the biggest measure...
