Questions to ask:
(1) is the statement taken out of context? Is that a reply to a question on the income of the lowest 20% cohort?
(2) if not, why address only the lowest 20% cohort?
(3) how about the income gap between top 20% and lowest 20%?
(4) how about the gap between the top 20% against the median, and between the median against the lowest 20%?
Not bashing, neither siding, but those are supposedly questions to better paint a complete picture.

Not bashing , neither siding as well....but I've always wondered why people don't think carefully about what they're gonna say first before saying it cos they might be taken out of context? Remember the City Harvest incident when Kong Fee Fatt Choy said God spoke to him and apologised to him? He of all people should know that the entire world is watching and listening closely to him. To me, hiding behind 'I was taken out of context" is getting very lame.

It is the way social media are structured in reasoning.
Social media are made up with factions, and they internalise the news and mentally filter out what is deemed unacceptable to accept (for the supporters) OR filter out what is deemed to be the norm and focused on the issues which are more controversial (for the oppositions). Hence, both camps will breed opposite perceptions in a dichotomous model.
The third camp usually withdraw themselves from taking sides, and could see both ends of the spectrum clearer.

If only I can remember in totality, there was answers with facts and data presented in CH102/CH5 (about 2 months ago on a Friday after News) on real income... only able to provide a summary of the result/findings to #3 and #4.kenntona;1044701 said:

Having said that, all of my SAF buddies have nothing but good things to say about him. He's a real humble guy to his men, no airs, and definitely doesn't have to go looking for tampon killer litterbugs.
