hey all. i scratched my e90 rims and went to touch up but the paintjob is not very good. i was wondering if i should trade in that particular rim and change for a brand new one. if so, where can i do so and how much should i expect to pay? thanks in advance.

Re: scratched rims

Where did you go to restore your rims? Perhaps you should let Angie Soh at Yew Lip take a last look and see if if it is really terminal. Hope it helps.

Typically she would charge bout 25 bux per rim

For scratched rims, my recommendation is to DIY if possible. If there is a great deal of uneveness on the surface as a result of the scratch, buy some Tamiya XY putty (less than $10). Take one part of the each 2 components of the putty and mix them together. The soft plastic mixture will harden in several hours. Use it to fill-up the scratch and leave it to "cure" (which mean harden). The XY putty can be bought from any miniature hobby shops (e.g there is one at 3rd floor specialist centre where John Little Orchard is) or at any toy corners in department store.

Otherwise, just touch up the paint work. Go to Sunshine Plaze. They are many hobby shops there as well. Look for the Vallejo Acrylic paint. (About $3 per bottle). Get the colour that offers the best match to your rim. Acryllic paint is water-soluble when it's wet and does not require thinner. Hence, it's totally fuss free and simple to use by amatuers with a simple small brush.
