Sat Nav Map Upgrade

How do you guys upgrade the map? Do we need to purchase the latest updated DVD or can I just download and install? Sorry if this is a noob question as my previous car has no sat nav.

DVD purchase used to be available for the older version of the i-drive. On the new i-drive, it is all download from an authorised service centre. It costs a couple of thousand to buy the updated map. I am not sure whether Munich will provide an updated map when there is one (since cars bought from them come with comprehensive servicing package).

If i need to pay to update the map, i would rather buy a Garmin..

Mine is not Munich car.. Its used. Even the KL map is a pretty old version. Not possible to update ourselves?

Hi Guys

I know this is a really old thread with regards to the updating mappings but hope you
guys can advise on the followings for my 2008 M3 :

1) Retrofitting new screen 8.8"
2) Updating 3D map version
3) Retrofitting new I drive control with shortcuts buttons
4) Reverse camera

With regards to the above, has anyone here done the upgrades?

I had heard mixed reviews of the local shops carrying out such installation,
but would hope bros here can give me some feed backs
