safe to drive to m'sia?

Guys, is it safe to drive up? Any unpleasant encounters? Haven been driving up there since l changed cars....sian....

Safe or unsafe, why bother buying an ultimate driving machine if you don't go up?

My personal experience is that, I do not stop all the way to KL, but in KL, I park in a lighted and popular area. All the time I expect my car to be broken in, stolen, etc, but it turns out well so far.

think there was a long thread about this issue some tie back..

bmws are high up on the syndicate hit lists... but if you take some sensible precautions.. i dont see why you cant go up.

for me, i observe the following -
a. avoid JB.
b. take NS/ 2nd link.
c. when in KL, park in hotel (reverse park so cant be towed), leave car there. dont drive around in KL.
d. if really kan cheong, tip the valet extra and get him to park in front of the hotel.
e. dont piss off malaysian drivers on the NS by hogging right lane, or tail gating.
f. dont leave any valuables in the car.

with modern day immobilisers, alarms are not really necessary. - the only practical way they can steal ur car is
a. get the key
b. tow the car.

if u really kan cheong, invest in one of those GPS trackers..

i drove my lexus in multiple times for shopping, wildgame and bakuteh from JB, malacca to KL. only one time kena kiss rear-end at kota tinggi with 3 bengs in a honda. honda radiator popout, mine rear minor damage, so didnt report JB police. just go away fast fast.

overall i think malaysia is safe. but for my 7 series, i was told by many people including malaysian buddies that car+driver guaranteed to be hijacked. and also lately many horror stories about JB, never go anymore.

sometimes its matter of luck. maybe if fengshui no good that day, dont go up north i guess.
