Run away BMW?

For E60s with the push start buttons, how to switch off the engine while in motion? Just press the button only? Better know just in case of a run away BWM just like the Prius...

PS.co-founder of Apple tried his Prius to trigger the run-away mode and he found that he was able to trigger it when in cruise mode. After increasing the cruise to a certain speed (72 mph, I think), the car would accelerate by itself. I think he stopped his car before establishing the max speed it would accelerate to...

Re: Run away BMW?

i dun think its possible. but i read somewhere that pushing it several times in quick succession will shut the engine down. but pls dun do it, i cant see how ur engine or other parts of the car will still be in one piece after a forced shutdown.

Re: Run away BMW?

I've tried to off the engine while in motion with my E90. However i did it after engaging the gear to neutral though. Car speed was quite low at about 40+km/h.

Afterwhich i start again and also in neutral gear too. Lastly i push back the gear in "d" mode.

All this was done while the car in motion..;)

Interesting to note that the car could be started while in motion.... and in N.

Re: Run away BMW?

at fast speed press and hold 3 seconds. it will shut down the car. At low speeds, pressing it once will do. High speed is more than a certain speed like 20kmph.... I forgot. This was already discussed in E60 forum where they had an article for most models with push buttons.
