Rubbing After Tyres Change

Hi, hope any bro can share their experience:

I recently change my tyres from Falken 452s to Yoko Advan Sport.
Tyre size remain unchanged at 235/35/19 up front; 265/30/19 rear.
Car on BC coilovers with maximum drop, damping settings at 12F/ 16R

After putting on the Advans, experience terrible rubbing at rear left.
Went to roll fender at Lye but still rub although no as bad as previous;
reset my damping to 28F/ 30R still didn't help much.:(

Any one care to comments?

for some reason, after i change my wheels, the guy at the shop said only left rear confirm rub.. he said right rear should be no prob.. and true enough, on testing, only the rear left rub.. i dunno why its like that.. design issue? but Ah Lye managed to roll my fenders quite nicely and now no more rub. u try ask them to roll more aggressively.. in your case, not too sure why it will start rubbing now considering the tyre size remains unchanged.. but for me i changed from 225 rear to 265 rear.

running a e46; seems like need to look for Lye again to roll more agressively..

i took the car for a test right after they rolled, rubbed, and brought it back straight away.. think they took out a dremel to drill down the part that rubbed. dun really mind considering its the inside of the wheel well they drilled down and its just a bit, not visible from the outside at all..

maybe its the tyres? considering u just changed brands and tyre specs still the same.

i'm driving e46 too. funny it happens to the rear left only.. good luck bro hope your issue gets sorted..

Been hearing about this Lye person/shop in few posts. You guys referring to Lye Design found in link page?

BTW, rolling fender would cause problem on paint work? Sorry, still a newbie ;)

Re: Rubbing After Tyres Change

bros......different tyre brand of same size have different designs so that might be one of the reasons that causes fender rub.....

the falken FK452 has rounded side walls ... can falken is famous for that 'stretched' look... i have friends who liked stretched looks go for falken 452 and toyo T1R ...

the advant sport has a very squarish sidewalls... it will look higher and its more out at the rim... thats why u rub

specs is the same... should be same sidewall thickness...

imagine...

the falken sidewall its shaped like a donut....
the advant sport sidewall shaped like kueh lapis

both donut and kueh lapis has the same thickness ( in this case sidewall profile thickness)

then again... if just by changing tire brands you rub..means the rim offset itself is not proper... or you are running tire that is too wide..

give us details of what rim size , offsets , width...i reckon u should be running 255 at the rear instead... what is ur rear rim width

they heat up the paint on the fenders with a heat gun before rolling it... to prevent the paint from cracking...

dont worry... rolling fender is not something bad for the car...

hi,

me running BBS CH004 8.5Jx19 ; Ch005 9.5Jx19. cannot remember the offset but saw something like ET40 on the rear rim.
no problem running on falkens for 2 years; no need to roll fender; can take 3 adults behind with slight rubbing over bumps though.

went to Lye yesterday and roll again but was the bumper that is rubbing and not the fender anymore. they also discover that the gap between the left/ right rear tyre to fender was different; but after measurement by Lye; found nothing wrong with suspensions but why is there a gap difference?

wnt back and set my BC to hardest and ride is very firm and rubbing very minimal already..not sure if can still take passengers though..
