Dear N42 Valvetronic Drivers,
I have recently noted that while the N42 may be pretty smooth on the move, the engine gets 'rough' at about 1,000 rpm. The 'rough' characteristic that I am referring to is that the engine's vibration increases at this point and disappears as rpm rises.
To clarify further, let's say leave the car in P or N, the idle will be about 850-900 rpm. Step lightly on the accelerator for the rpm to rise to the 1,000rpm mark. At this point, the vibration of the engine will increase (it's quite evident if you hold the rpm there). Step the accelerator further, the rpm rises and this vibration is gone.
The vibration isn't v bad, but it's quite obvious in a quiet environment.
I have heard of valvetronic drivers having rough idling, but does anyone have the prob that I mentioned above?
On a separate issue, I understand that the transmission software can get erractic now and then, eg. when going downhill, the transmission will hold at a certain gear, and when it decides to upshift, it does so in a v abrupt manner, giving a shove in the back feeling. PML mentioned that they can tune the transmission.. is this true? If so, how do they do it? I am on the new software already.
Thanks for all feedback.
