Rims and Tires

Halo,

I got some newbie questions and please dont bang if sound foolish ok.

1. Put non staggered rims with 225/40R18 tires. But behind put spacer with longer lugs to stagger the rear?

or

2. Same width rims and tires size. But rear get rim with smaller offset to have staggerd effect?

Reason is that I already got the tires and do not want to waste them just have 0.5 wider.

Thanks a lot.

Re: Rims and Tires

erm... i thot staggered means the rear tyres are wider than those in front?

Re: Rims and Tires

Ok stagger maybe is the wrong word. How about to make the rear more protrude.

Re: Rims and Tires

put a spacer on the rears? but check that tyres will not rub fenders...

Re: Rims and Tires

I know spacer is not the best choice. Thats why need to check if put 225/40R18 on rear, what will be the best offset. I am looking at Advan RS.
Maybe front +35 and rear +25??

thanks

Re: Rims and Tires

noob question : i'm running on 17" stock. If i were to upgrade to 18" or 19", will performance be neglected? I know that stock rims are much heavier.... What are the benefits of upsizing my rims besides looks and benefit?

fuel economy?

Re: Rims and Tires

really depends on which car you are driving e46, e90, e39, e60, etc? different cars have different offsets. can't tell you unless you let us know what your ride is.

the best thing to do is to go the rim shop and ask them. fit on, take a look and see whether you like it, before you buy...

sharper steering response definitely. and better turn-in.

depending on the weight of the rims and tyres, may even have better FC.

but pick-up will be slower right?

sometimes i felt sorry to those Snr forumers..who tried very hard to answer quite a fair bit of doubts, but yet was bombarded by uncharacteristic questions later :whythis:

Henrick,
ai-pee, ai-chee, ai-tua-liap-Ni
quite diff to satisfy everything. when u up size, u already knew u want grip in mind, and that comes with aesthestic looks. I m quite sceptical abt FC savings, as once u in yr beemer, with those 19", along a straight rd, right leg always slamp hard somehow.
:lol2: maybe try 92 Octane, it may help alot:yummie:
but yr concern is more towards tires than rims.

for Free2D, go staggered Thy Rims, my man. but i prefer w/o spacers.:laughlik:

Re: Rims and Tires

My ride is E90 325.
Just thinking of another solution as I already have the tires. If can save, save lor.

Thanks guys.

Re: Rims and Tires

your rationale for thinking so?
