Want to ask any bros has use this and comments abt it like if it affects tyre seal, performance, deformation to tyres etc?

reason because i want to get a set first to let me get use to the ride with 20inch rims. then after i will remove them maybe affer a few months.

yup i know it affects the appearance of the rims but that is not my main concern now.

Thanks in advance.

Re: rim protectors like produbs/alloygators

I tried it before. Wasn't too happy with the "performance" of it though.

1. It was suppose to protect the rim when you accidentally hit a kerb, however, to my dismay it does not serve it function as although it did take away some of the damage, my rim ultimately was damaged too. (Note this is going at a slow speed in a narrow carpark)
2. After you hit a kerb, you will need to either replace the rim protector or go back to the shop and pay a fee to re-align it again.
3. I encountered tyre leak which the shop later said it was because i kerb my rim and damaged my chrome rim which again it still debatable as since I have removed it, the leak is no longer there
4. You cannot replace just 1 of the rim protector and need to purchase another new set even if one is damaged only.
5. The installation of it is not consistent. Different people who installed it will have different idea on how it should be done and I had to "correct" them by showing the the differences which they then made the changes. Right or wrong, I do not know.

In conclusion, I do not think that it is suitable for all rims especially rims which are concave like my hamann race edition as the protector will shift the min it hit any kerb and therefore resulting in your rims being damaged still. Worst thing is you need to still go back to the shop to re-align it again.

Re: rim protectors like produbs/alloygators

Good review. All the reviews I have read so far in other places are "swee ahh", "solid mod", "wah so bright!" etc etc

All no value added

Re: rim protectors like produbs/alloygators

usually after market product and made for general usage only
that mean some wheels are not suitable.
further more the items are installed by 3rd party and the supplier claimed that is very easy to install.
anyway is a low cost product so dont expect lot form it

Re: rim protectors like produbs/alloygators

tis protection thingy really interest me initially. But after finding out the cost (abt $200 + install) and its replacement restriction (cannot just buy one piece to replace, need to buy a set), I'm better off sending my ride to my trusty rim restorer each and every time my rim is curbed.

I have more flexibility this way though cost wise is more or less the same (Abt $50/rim to have it restored). And that is also on proviso this protection thingy really performed to its expectation. If its gona be like wat bro appetie had experienced, more $$ have to be spent to 1) replace the protection strip + 2) restore the rim.....its a double whammy imo :screwedu:

Re: rim protectors like produbs/alloygators

If u kerb you rims on a regular basis, you should just take a bus

Re: rim protectors like produbs/alloygators

Haha thats a gd one MW. South east said the same thing and strongly discourage it. They told me the BBS CHR got a replaceable rim protector alr(130 each).

Unfortunately my tyre s001 cant offer any protection as the rim sticks out a little

agree with you. Wasn't thinking right when I bought it. But it is indeed a double whammy and you are just better off getting someone to restore the rims if you kerb it. At the end of the day, it doesn't make sense at all...

lol at least offer a more viable solution instead of selling the ride and taking the bus.
