reinforcing your chasis

i was at fongkim yesterday. They keep pushing their new product autofoam. they claim that it can improve sound insulation, improve handling etc etc

anyone heard of this before? basically they will inject foam into your chasis (most car chasis are hollow. only the latest 7 series and lexus have foam in their chasis for better sound insulation), these foam will harden and make your chasis stiffer but without adding much weight.

any reviews on these? not cheap though.

Re: reinforcing your chasis

the foam weight is insignificant. iam sure it will inprove sound insulation since lexus and 7 series are using it. but as for handling.......... not too sure

Re: reinforcing your chasis

foam after hardening will crack?

OT: hitmee, your tires no more tread left already ar...

Dont waste your money..
Seriously speaking, for our daily driving we dont ever get anywhere near to exploring the full limit of our car so dont bother spending money to improve chasis rigidity and crap.

If I were you, I'd consider changing the wing mirror. I suppose your car can't use OEM M3 mirrors but u can consider the ACS type...looks good tho viewing angle bit smaller. Else, M5 mirror or commonly known as the M3 replica like u hv seen before.

Re: reinforcing your chasis

I saw a M3 steering in very good condition when I was at Propel last week. If you are interested, you can call Jonathan to enquire.

Thot you may want to know :)

Re: reinforcing your chasis

yeah...m3 mirrors a must...after that
M3 steering =>CSL Front=>Hamann GTR sides=>Vorsteiner bonnet=>coil booster=>avac amp...

Re: reinforcing your chasis

Just curious, when they inject foam into your chasis and it hardens up to reinforced the steel/aluminium etc....

Wouldnt it affect the safety crumple zone of the car-in some ways? Don't want steel bars flying thru my chest or other people's chest!!!(In the other car)

Re: reinforcing your chasis

ops...i am actually looking for SMG M3 steering . :)

not too sure about the foam thing. in theory, it should work. but in reality i am not too sure.

Re: reinforcing your chasis

sound proof than you upgrade exhaust cannot hear to rumble...

too bad dont have original M3 mirrors that plug & play for us E46s... only got replica ones...
