Just wanna check any bro or sis here did a reflash on their ride before. Whether if there is any change in drivability after the reflash. Or shd I juz install the powerbox instead.

Any advise is greatly appreciated.:helpp!:

Juz got my ride which is an E60 2006 pre LCI model.

Re: Reflash

so fast kena poisoned.....muahahaha
but then again....how can don't get poisoned when u are surrounded by the 2 andys and me just now :p

Re: Reflash

LOL....Yalor....but really, the sluggish starts really pissed me off....overall, the ride is still enjoyable...

Re: Reflash

PowerBox is great, can be dekitted too when you change your ride in the near future.......

cheers

Re: Reflash

So if i install powerbox, it is necessary to do a reflash, or is it advisable to do both one after another?
How much more of HP will i get if i do a reflash....understand that powerbox may give 8 to 10 HP more...and also better torque...

tks

Re: Reflash

dun waste money....if u do powerbox then dun do reflash or vice versa.
my advice is invest in some lighter rims, u will get your money worth with lower FC and less sluggish moving off.

Re: Reflash

Power box great !! Install n feel the difference !! I done it n feel it..

Re: Reflash

Powerbox is effective n half the cost than reflash.
Just installed on my e60 last week... One word... Good.
The rev is so fast that the gearbox cannot upshift in time
Has been very gentle on the throttle.... Unless need to rush.... Zoooooom

Pump SPC 95.. as compared to others, give better power n mileage... Well that's my observation
Caltex sucks for N52 engine

Thanks Lorinser, I believe yr FC is ok  or is even better now after installation....
I am surprised SPC 95 has better performance...I am currently on SPC 98....will try it....Cheers

Re: Reflash

No need refresh or pwrbox lah. Juz give me ur car key & i will make sure ur car feels like wild stallion when i return it.

It is simple. Whenever u drive, juz full throttle all the time for 1 - 2 days. After that, ur car will feel like will stallion.

i used to own a old E34 and SPC for that car is really bad.... but for E60 is good.
I got my E60 last month 2006 model, same as yours.
If your ride is sluggish, I suggest to go reset the ECU and transmission adaptation first and drive for a week before install powerbox.
you can feel powerbox more effective if your engine is in good condition, especially the ignition and vacuum system.
have you changed engine and transmission oil?

haha... i will also want to volunteer that.
but did not work for my old ride.... the transmission went bonkers and jerk badly when coming to a stop.

Re: Reflash

Hi folks, is this powerbox like a piggyback?

Re: Reflash

@David - lol, juz got my ride leh......don't wanna be so ambitious yet

@Lorinser - resetting the ecu means reflashing rite? Sorry if it is a stupid question, so Hopelessly lost. I thot if install the powerbox no need to reflash as the result will be almost the same. And yes, I had change engine oil n ATF. I m trying to save some cost to hv the most effective method. Tks

@thunderbunny - yes it is a piggyback

Re: Reflash

reset ECU is not a reflash
it merely reset the ECU "adaptation" for the previous driver
if the previous driver drive like kuniang the ECU adapt to kuniang style
so reset it to factory default and let the ECU learn your style ... just whack it :D

Re: Reflash

Why do you guys prefer a piggyback over a direct flash to the ecu? In the Vw and audi marque we prefer the flashing methods. Seems like heading back to the jap and Korean style eh?

Re: Reflash

@WT - oic. Any idea how much a resetting to factory standard will cost me.tks for the explanation.

Re: Reflash

here are the diy steps. some say it works, some say it didn't

Steps...

1) press start button (without stepping on brake) to turn on power. this will not start the car engine.
2) step on the accelerator down to the floor for 10sec
3) press start button to turn off power
4) remove foot from accelerator
5) wait for 2 minutes
6) start the engine like normal and drive

just to be absolutely clear, you can go through step 1 to 5 a few times just to make sure you did it right.
