rear tire being 'fried'

hi,
changed the tires of my ride on sunday and i inspected the old tires as they were taken off the rims. apart from some uneven wear, to my horror, the inside wall of the left rear tire felt sticky and soft. i was puzzled but did not investigate further.

this evening, i touched the inside wall of the new left rear tire after i have parked my car for 5 mins and that wall felt hot. is the residual heat from the exhaust 'frying' the tire?

Re: rear tire being 'fried'

is ur car lowered by quite abit? if so its pretty normal for the inside walls of all tires to wear more...camber.....it takes more than residual heat from exhaust to fry ur tires...these things can take 100 degree type of heat..

only left rear tire!?... so closest bet is: you are right, it's probably your muffler...

this is something new! never noticed this... if this is true, then we should 'insulate' our mufflers... which is actually not a difficult thing, though i'm not so sure if it'll have any secondary effect of any other parts of the car...

any other feedback/experience fm our other bros out there?
