Re: Mileage Before Tyre Change

What is typical mileage range to change tyre (under normal wear and tear driving pattern, not the F1 wan to be driving pattern). Also, my RFT seems to be quite lasting. The threads are still quite good after 20k km (albeit the corner is abit botak). For safety reasons, I considering changing after another 1-2k km. I am running 225/35/19 and 255/30/19. Any good recommendation (safety is priority) or should stick with RFT. Many thanks.

Re: Mileage Before Tyre Change

It really depends on your usage. Play by sight on the tyre wear. I was on Bridgestone RE050 RTS's as well before changing them to regular tyres. Personally the RFT's are a little to hard and bumpy for my liking. Great performance tyres though those bredgestone's are.

Re: Mileage Before Tyre Change

Thanks for the reply. Somehow my RFTs are quite bad during wet condition, will spin/skid if accelerate too fast when road is wet. Dunno is it because of the condition of tyre thread or RFTs are not for wet condition. Does the compound in RFT heat up easily so that it can be "sticky" and improves traction? I inflate my tyres at 37psi (front) & 39 psi (rear), usually early in the morning (cold condition with very low speed to a nearby kiosk). Somehow they deflate quite quickly. Usually dropped by 3-4 psi if I dont inflate them for 2 weeks. Normal?

Re: Mileage Before Tyre Change

RFT has good wear rate as the tread is thick n compound is usually hard so u get good mileage outta it

No universal rule on how much mileage to determine when to change tires
but for normal driving with occasional load and 1.5-1.6 ton weight kind of cars, I suppose if u can achieve like 25k mileage on 19in is considered pretty decent.

What tyre size are you on? 37 39 PSI seems a little high. Loss in tyre pressure I would expect it to be around 2 psi in 2 weeks. Safest way is to bring it to a tyre shop and check.

suggest you follow the tyre pressure gauge at the side of your door and lower it by a few psi depending on how much you value your ride comfort. As for the drastic drop in psi, suggest you bring it to a tyre shop to check for leakages. If proven there is a leak, this is your chance to get non RFT tyres.

Re: Mileage Before Tyre Change

A friend was working at stamford tyre has helped to check the tyres. To newbies like me, there are little triangle markers on the side of the tyres to assist in checking the thread depth. Also, one can better see thread of the tyre from the back of the car and front of the car under good lighting. This way you will be able to better see the extend of the tyre threads (inner part) have been worn.

Hi all,
..noticed that for my ride, the outer side of the LEFT FRONT tyre has higher wear when compared to the RIGHT FRONT outer side..have already swapped front to rear "X" wise...and now have the same wear pattern on that tyre...have also judiciously checked tyre pressure EVERY week and maintained at 210 psi (front) and 230 psi (rear)......STILL having higher wear-rate at FRONT LEFT tyre on the outer side..
....any ideas on possible cause/s? Thanks.
