Rattling from dash

I've been annoyed by this nasty rattling coming from the dash.

After driving over a particularly rough stretch/badly paved stretch (which is very often nowadays. :(), the entire dash rattles as if something is loose.

I do get a constant rattle/flex sound from the passenger side.

Anyone have any idea if it could be due to how PML put my dash back together again after replacing my radio HU? (I don't think it's necessary to remove the entire dash to get at the HU right?)

thats always the risk u gotta take when dismantling such a huge item.

i have some rattles from my dash as well, but manage to isolate it myself and DIY the noises.

Areas to look out for are:

1) black side mirror cover on the inside.
2) plastic piece after the scuff plate near the door.
3) plastic cup holders on passenger side (primary culprit!)
4) plastic wall in the glove compartment (E90's are freaking loose!)
5) ERP cable behind the dash board flapping against dashboard (another main culprit)
6) center aluminium trim on the dashboard (the one where the aircon vents are)

just to name a few....

Re: Rattling from dash

Ivan, its the clips that are holding ur dashboard down. Either PML didn't replace the clips when they fixed back your dashboard or it wasn't properly fitted down snugly. The clips do harden and break quite easily after prolong "tanning" of your car.

U may want to ask PML to remove and replace the clips when they fit back the dash. Make sure that u see the warranty claim sheet that stated that they indented and replaced the clips.

Re: Rattling from dash

thanks folks. another advice i got from guni was the little slits where the leathercare/lube doesn't reach.. will try and see if i can get a brush or something close to do up those places.

well, the passenger side one is now being drowned out by the instrument cluster rattling...

turning the music louder is a very good idea.. only problem is wife doesn't like loud music. :)

cheers!
