how do we get rasp sound in the exhaust and which e60 aftermarket exhaust has a very raspy sound? any recommendations? thanks :)

Re: rasp sound in the exhaust...

I doubt a raspy sound can be easily produced by just changing the exhaust muffler...
Likely, u need to de-cat to achieve that.

Hv a word with totoseow, he can advise you wot to do.

Re: rasp sound in the exhaust...

TripleM is right abt that, u gotta de-cat and together with a aftermarket exhaust u'll get that rasp sound, but if im not wrong, the rasp sound will only come in 3800rpm all the way to redline. If i rem correctly la ...

Re: rasp sound in the exhaust...

Need to know how can I increase some HP on my engine.
Will changing the exhaust system make a difference ?
If so what is your recommendation and shop details.

I drive a year 2002 BMW 318i (E46)

Changing the rear of the exhaust system won't give u much gains. More for the look and the sporty exhaust note only. Fong Kim is a popular exhaust shop.

There isnt alot u can do to increase pony kicks in 318 Valvetronic engine.
Better do some cosmetic or handing works to get a more satisfying result:)

High metallic tinty sound when wide on throttle, most evident in the E46 M3.

If that makes any sense..

i like that sound :D its nice..... was it u who told me if u remove it will sound like a v8??

Re: rasp sound in the exhaust...

Yeah, when the Rasp is removed, it's more bassy V8-esque kinda sound.

Re: rasp sound in the exhaust...

what about ferrari sound? is that rasp, at a higher pitch? seriously no idea..

The V8-esque sound that I hv had before is like BMW's V8 ( eg 645 / 745 ) or C55 V8 kinda sound.
Nthg like the Ferrari which is raw and high pitch, seriously high pitch.

If u want a little higher pitch, I think Eisenmann Race exhaust or Kreis-seig can give you that:)

Re: rasp sound in the exhaust...

guys,

i was following a Modena the other night around KL and the sounds almost make me cry..damn its nice. i personally think that the so called "rasp" sound is not so firece or "garang" compared to the high pitch. was using the Eisenmann but the sound wasn't that ferrari too..:)
hmmm...wonder how much time and cost would ferrari allocate to tune the sound for their new model before they are put to production. my 2 cents. cheers:)

Re: rasp sound in the exhaust...

of coz cant replicate the ferrai sounds...no where near.
V8 vs IL-6 but again, Ferrari can't produce our raspy sound either hahaha...

Your Eisenmann isnt the Race version so u dont hv that higher pitch sound.

Hv u listened to those Race exhaust? Like in Porsche GT3 for eg? Damn, that's bloody loud, high pitch and steam ah...

Re: rasp sound in the exhaust...

If you want that Ferrari high pitch sound then change everything to stainless steel pipes, preferably of a slightly smaller diameter than stock. This will increase the exhaust pulse speed and the frequency of the sound. I tried it before and the pitch did increase but won't hit Ferrari note unless you rev pass 6000rpm.

Re: rasp sound in the exhaust...

i see.. i see.. does TUBI make exhaust for our car? heard a quattropote with tubi exhaust.. similar to ferrari sound lah, except lower pitch..

Re: rasp sound in the exhaust...

But QP is using Ferrari engine.

Tubi has exhaust for M3 and M5 but the sound is no where near Ferrari.
