Question : E46 318i : On-board Computer?

Question for you folks.

Do any/all of your 318's have the OBC stalk/button?
The other e46 320i in my house has it, and it's mighty handy.
My 318i doesn't. I was wondering if there was someway to track the data within.

I know our e46's have plenty of easter eggs.
Within the onboard computer.
Is there someway to access it?

I read somewhere about buying indicator stalks w/ the button
And installing it. Anyone done so? Is that possible?
Does that unlock our access to the Onboard PC?

Thanks in advance...

Re: Question : E46 318i : On-board Computer?

yes its possible. go get the "stick" and install it....

Re: Question : E46 318i : On-board Computer?

i was wondering what that button was on the 320's

Re: Question : E46 318i : On-board Computer?

Can retrofit. Go to the scrapeyard and look for it. Should cost between S$100 to 150.

Re: Question : E46 318i : On-board Computer?

Ken, will it then work with the obc? What is it, gives fuel consumption etc?

No need. BVO can do the retrofit.

Looks like i've unleashed some hidden desires amongst the e46'ers.

Kenn. Any idea the damage at BVO?

Re: Question : E46 318i : On-board Computer?

Prob reposted many times, on many forums.
But no harm doing once more.

Once unlocked, the dear stalk does even more than the 320's it appears.
I know the other one I have at home.
Just gives Temp/MPG/Time etc.

Hidden Onboard Computer Functions

There are a number of "secret" OBC functions which can be enabled to display raw data output on the digital odometer. Some are found during standard operation (e.g. average fuel economy), but many others are unique to the "hidden" mode (e.g. engine speed or vehicle speed).
Note: these functions will work on ALL US-spec E46 cars, even early 323/325 models which are technically not equipped with the OBC option. The OBC is in fact installed and operative in every E46; as an option, it can be "retrofitted" (activated) by installing the OBC-style turn signal stalk and activating the appropriate trigger during an ECU reflash. The better dealership service departments will know how to do this.
Instructions to access the hidden OBC functions:
1. Hold Trip Reset while turning ignition key to on position
2. OBC should show "Test"
3. Use Trip Reset to select function 19.0 that unlocks all the features
4. Wait for display to show "Off"
5. Depress Trip Reset for 1/4 second and release it
6. With no delay press Trip Reset several times to select one of the following function s
